There are 2 removable panels in the headliner in front of the back doors. What are these for?

There are two 4x10 speakers up there. Or 4" speakers if you have a Bose stereo.

Ok, didn't know if they were for that or were access panels for something else. No speakers there just covered panels.

Thanks for the edit!

Yes, they are 4x10's. I replaced mine a few years ago. Kenwood is one of the few companies that still makes them. I think they were Kenwood 415c. Not bad, but I've also heard you can do some work and get 6x9's up there, I just didn't want to hassle with it.

They are access panels for the rear most speakers. Be careful pulling the panels down and you will see the speakers.

I bought some cheap 4x10, but IMO they are a crappy design. I recently picked up some 4" speakers from an escalade. They turned out to be fried, but I at least have some bolt in adapter plates now.

Yeah Kicker and Kenwood are the only people that still make a 4x10 i think. I have kenwoods in the back... They arent to bad. Someone on here made a 6x9 "pod-like" attachment that fit into the 4x10 space and allowed you to put a 6x9 in there facing towards the front of the truck. I think there are also some kits that allow you to use a dremel and cut some material out and place a 6x9 in the hole and cover it back up to look factory.

I personally hated the 4x10's but I found it pretty damn easy to cut them out and fit some nice Alpine 6x9 speakers and even an inexpensive set sounds 10x better IMO. The worst part as that nasty foam shit that turns into some kinda of tacky glue substance over the years. Don't get it on anything, you'll never get it off!
