I agree with this. Start with the free/cheap mods like debadging, etc. Then I say go for wheels/tires first if you haven't already. In my experience if those aren't my first mod it is a long time coming before I actually get some. Whereas the other mods such as intake, exhaust, etc I will get either way. Just my .02.
Hopefully I don't get hated on for this.... but in my case, I went for show first. I bought the Tahoe for the looks not performance, so I added rims and appearance upgrades first. I am now going back to do some performance mods.
Like someone mentioned it's all about personal preference. As a newbie I will get slammed for saying this but most performance upgrades are not all they are hyped up to be, I will even go as far as to say most add no performance increase to include CAI, Exhaust but we all do it for personal satisfaction and sound. To really get performance increase you have to start talking Forced induction and that involves lots of $$$$. So go with the appearance to set urs apart from the millions of Tahoes & Yukons out there. If your pockets run deep then go FI
