I have an '08 5.3 flex fuel 6" lift on 35's. It shit the transmission. Pulling thr trany myself taking it having a stage 2 rebuild done. Below is a rebuild specs that I received. Do I need to replace the kickdown cable and What torque converter should I use?

$750 master over haul kit stage two clutches and upgraded seals and plungers , corvette servo , new upgraded sun shell , high performance clutch brake, rebuilt pump , valve body rebuilt , the transmissions when I build them I strip them down to the shell and completely rebuild them I only reuse the hard parts I clean then and inspect. Everything built with specs , I don’t replace the kick down cable or torque converter. Orielly Autoparts is cheaper for to get it and install then it would be for me. I give a 6 month warranty only if the converter is changed

6l80 or 4l60?
Edit: nvm, my brain wasn’t working for a minute there. I need to read the whole post next time. Anyway, that trans won’t last you long. Check out www.Performabuilt.com and look up their extreme 4x4 4l60e. The warranty is 2 years if you buy an FTI converter to go with it. You won’t break it.

I'd question any rebuilder mentioning a kickdown cable on a 4L60E.

As for a torque converter, I'm a fan of FTI and CircleD.

I don't need a extreme trans it's a mall cruiser not a mud truck it just hauls kayaks from tournament to tournament

I think that's Just a generic build specs he's got typed up that applies to all transmissions . I was really wanting to know if anybody had any suggestions on maybe better than stock and stall I'm lost when it comes to transmissions

You’re running 35’s with a 4l60e. So after you go through a couple more transmissions, remember what I tried to tell you. You’d better at least put a Beast sunshell in. Find somebody that knows how to build a 4l60 for big tires.

Yup.. The 4l60e is a decent trans when it's built correctly
But you'll spend about $ 3500 to build it RIGHT...
I've been thru several 4l60's ... even built right, they don't hold up under extreme
conditions... But if your biggest "condition" is the big tires, then it should be OK imo.
But you will need it done right by a place that their specialty is high performance
builds on GM transmisisons

To answer the orig question.. You'll want a full size 12 inch converter build
for HEAVY DUTY USE.. Not for race use.. So keep your stall about 1800-2000
and make sure it's built with HD components
PATC makes good converters and will do custom stuff for your app

they used to be about $500 or more..
Of course I bought the GM ones.. Cause all the others were chinese junk.
