What transfer case do I have and how does it work

Hey everyone I have a 05 Yukon with awd it is not a denali . Does anyone know what transfer case it is and how it works. Also has anyone answered the G80 question is it locking or a limited slip.

The transfer case is at the back half of the transmission. It transfers power to the front wheels. When you put it into 4 low it slides another gear across to give it a lower gear ratio. Because you are awd you cant switch it to rear wheel drive only. I think that would be a great mod for someone to do.

On these AWD vehicles doesn't the front drive shaft turn all the time but not actually engage the front differential until needed?

that sounds correct.

and if you have no need for it and dont use it, you can remove that driveshaft for better gas mileage. i personally like mine right where it is from factory. :)

what sets the tcase to engage the front end is it wheel slippage. and is this a weaker transfercase then the standard 4x4
