Wheel experts, please help. I bought a 2007 Yuk xL Denali with factory 20s. I believe this truck was original to New York or New England.

Take a look at the pic. I have a matte finish peeling of my rims in certain places and also it was sprayed over the chrome, maybe by the dealer, since there is chrome under it. It looks like the finish was applied after the wheel weights were added. Some have since been moved and there is chrome finish underneath.

I'm guessing the dealer applied, or third party, to protect chrome from road salt etc.

If so, I need to get it reapplied to have rims look better, or at least consistent.

Does anyone know about this process?

Another pic of where finish peeling, not where a wheel weight was.

You can just get a towel and rub it off. Plasti dip just peals right off. A lot of people do it to black out the wheels and can be removed easily. I did it on my 22 escalade wheels for winter

Not plastic dip, a clear matte spray coat of some sort.

Decided to just go ahead and paint all four wheels chose a gunmetal gray matte finish. Not sure that I'm happy with it but at least the finish is clean now.

Will run then for a while, and either repaint for replace.

Paint is duplicolor high performance wheel paint with their matte clear on top.

To bad the previous owner painted over the chrome.
