So I just recently picked up a lifted 2010 suburban. Abs/traction/stability light was on and put my reader and it showed a left front wheel sensor bad. Fast forward to this weekend and I replaced the sensor keeping the previous spacer that was there. The hub is a few months old and appears to be the sensor that came with it. This did not correct the issue and upon further investigation it appears that there must have been a short in the wire for that sensor because they ran a separate set of wires off the sensor and down the frame. It connects to the harness at the abs module. I verified that it’s connected and even cleared the codes. But it still isn’t wanting to read. Could the abs module be bad? I’ve also noticed that the connector doesn’t stay seated very good to the module. It has the lock for it but even locked I can pull it right out and unless it’s pushed in just perfect it will throw other codes. I’m thinking about getting a new plug and pinning it if the issue is the plug and not the module.

the readings it sees from that sensor are very small any change can throw it off. bad splice causing extra resistance. pin at the plug partially pulled out doesn't matter. anything that can cause an erratic readings from the wheel speed sensor can throw the code. not the first time ive gotten a new hub with a bad sensor either.

I’m going to check resistance on it with my meter when I get home today. It could very well be how they connected it. If the sensors reads good then I’ll probably run a new set of wires and solder/shrink wrap them. This is a new sensor from local parts house. Just didn’t know if the module could be bad as well but I also plan to pull the plug and make sure the connector is completely set in it.

I’m worried it’s probably more than a bad sensor. I’m going to ohm it and see what it reads. My scan tool lets me read the sensor bolts when they move. I get readings from all but that one.

I had the same fault after changing out both front original gm hubs with Timken hubs this weekend on my 2005 Denali, it was a recessed pin on the connector attached to the hub.

I didn’t even think to check that connection. I checked the sensor and it ohm is perfect but it’s still not reading. I ran a new line straight to the abs module and still nothing. I’m going to check that plug and verify the pin didn’t come out any. The plug at the module is good tho.

I must have been half asleep last night when I responded. I checked the ohm right past that connector and it read good. I haven’t jacked it up and spun the wheel to check the voltage... but it’s looking like abs module or possibly too much resistance in the splices to read.

It’s not communicating. Either due to the connection at the abs module or the module itself. I’m wondering if a short in three wire fried just that circuit for the driver front sensor.
