I recently picked up a 2009 GMC Yukon SLT. Enjoying it so far, had a couple different full-size GM trucks before. I like how much 'smaller' this feels and how much smoother it rides. The first thing I want to change are the wheels and tires. They are Boss Motorsport aftermarket wheels with Goodyear LS2 tires.
They are alright but I don't really dig the look of them. So the question becomes what do I replace them with. I want to go with an OEM wheel of some sort. I found a set of 18" wheels from a 2015 GMC Sierra Z71, and they include the SR-A tires and TPMS sensors and everything, they have 1,000 miles on them. The guy wants $800 for them.
Here's the dilemma. The Goodyear SR-A are not really a great tire. I had them on a previous truck. I would prefer to have the factory 20" wheels of some sort. So I might wait around to see if a set of those come up. But I want to get rid of the LS2's that are currently on the truck before the snow hits (a month or so).
No matter what wheels I end up getting I will probably put some all-terrains of some sort on them. I live in town so the closest it will see to the dirt is unpaved roads and driveways. I just want something that works well in the snow.
Any ideas or insight? Will 18's look too small? I just don't want to buy wheels or tires twice.
I also figure I can sell the wheels+tires for $400 or $500 that are currently on my Yukon. And I might be able to sell the SR-A's for $200 if I got different tires. But I'd be looking at $800 for the 18" GMC wheels + tires, then another $800 for new tires and only be able to recoup about $600 of that.
A set of 20" GMC wheels looks to be about $800 and then I've got to get
