Hi guys,

I'm looking into buying a 2007 Yukon SLT Flexifuel. Are there any known issues I need to be extra vigilant about when investigating this car?

All tips are very much appreciated :)

I'm not aware of any. Most first generation vehicles end up being guinea pigs but it seems as though GM did a pretty good job this time. I have an '07 and I haven't seen or heard of anything unusual so far. I do know there was a recall for the windshield fluid heater. I believe it was catching on fire so it was removed. I took mine into the dealership for a used car inspection a couple days after I bought it and everything checked out okay except it needed a new oil pan gasket ($400) and the battery was weak. I ended up not having the oil pan gasket replaced b/c my mechanic later told me it was not necessary. As long as I'm not leaking oil, I shouldn't waste the money so I've been keeping a close eye on it. I did get a new battery later, along with new tensioners and belts b/c one belt was chirping. The truck had 58k miles on it when I bought it, just to give you an idea.

Nothing to major........Just cracked dashes, faulty lifters which in turn ruin the cam, fuel pump went out, a/c compressors chattering, :) :) :)

I haven't had too many issues wiht my 07 Yukon XL SLT 5.3L Flexbut one major is the oil consumption. They did take care of it but it took one year. GM ended up giving me new heads and block and that took care of the problem. What I've heard is that the piston rings stick to the piston and allow for the oil to burn when in V4 mode. Mine has about 85K miles and I've had the power train warranty cover the water pump and fuel pump. GM is great with their warranties. I haven't had any other problems.

Yeah, test the ac when you get it. It's an easy fix if it does it, but better it do it at the dealership, than scare the crap out of you weeks later. Just run the ac while driving, leave it on when you park it and shut it off, then, restart it and listen. You'll know if it has a problem.

I never heard mine do it because I bought it in February. I tested it, but not like that.

Door lock actuators are known issues, too.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

I went to check out one today, car seems mechanically in mint condition, but the owner really had not taken care of the car. Dents, scratched paint and torn rubber lists was not what I had expected on a 5 year old car…

Back to searching the car listings I guess :)
