Where to buy new keyfob remote?

Title says it all - our Tahoe hasn't had a functional keyfob remote in 5+ years and I'm sick of it. Where can I get one and have it reprogrammed? Is coding it something I can do myself or can a dealer accomplish this?

you can get them on ebay anywhere from $10- $50. some sellers will give you the instructions when you buy it, but if not google it and you can find instructions. its not hard to program though

Does the code on the fob have to be a certain code to match your truck or anything?

Well, I got one when I bought my XL, but wanted a spare. I matched the P/N number and FCC ID on the back of the FOB to the one I ordered, but the website I posted matches it with your year.

From looking at it, all 2003-2006 Tahoes, Yukons, Silverados and GM trucks use the same FOB. I just checked and 2001-2002 use the same FOB, but different from the 03-06.

Can anyone get the P/N # and FCC ID from the back of their 00-02 fob so I can make sure I get the right one. I dont have my original fob to match it up to.

Apparently the one I posted for 2001 (15732803) and the one posted on the top (15042968) by ypse both work on 2001, however, according to the website:

"NOTE (1): GM used one of two different remotes in 2001 and they do not interchange. Please check the numbers on the back of your current remote to make sure they match this one. If you are sure you have the factory RKE system and you do not have a remote, there is no way to tell which one you need for 2001. Your only option is to buy both, and return the one that does not work for a refund. We cannot tell you which one you need, nor can the dealer. GM test A will not tell you which one you need, only that an RKE system is present."
