hey guys I just got my 05 tahoe and am wanting to start adding a little power to this 4.8 and don't really know where to start. I already have talked to my exhaust shop and was told that all I needed was an aftermarket muffler and to stay away from headers right now. I have right now a magnaflow exhaust and am getting ready to purchase a cai. Thanks

Airaid JR intake tube, drop in filter, long tubes, exhaust and a tune for bolt ons. Also a Corvette Servo, shift kit or both.

If you are looking to go further, tbss or nnbs throttle body and intake manifold. A cam will give you great gains also and a turbo set up. Really depends on how much you want to spend

do all mods first (intake, exhaust, etc...) then get your tune.

ok thanks guys. I got a diablosport intune the other day for a heck of a steal ($100) but as expected I didn't really notice much of a difference. Also the truck had a magnaflow welded on when I got it and the way I understand you are saying I need to scrap that and get a full exhaust? Cause my local dyno performance shop had told me that a catback on a 4.8 was a waste cause the exhaust flowed plenty good enough and just needed muffler replacement( not doubting you just wondering why they told me that) and that a header should be my last investment cause most gm 4.8 lose power when LT headers were installed. And as far as turbo I don't really want that kind of power. I was also told to do a gear change so I was thinking of picking up a LT diff with the 3.73 gears. Any thoughts on gears?

Re gear I don't know on the LT headers make a huge difference on a 5.3 and on a 6.0 have both and have them for both. Really wakes them up. Wife has a 2002 Tahoe with a 5.3 intake exhaust and LT headers with Y pipe. Mine is to long to list right now. But I haven't heard that. Intake either the JR kit or a dry filter like AEM or Volant. Your magnaflow should be fine. Do a tune up change full filter and sea foam her. Electric fans

I have also heard that the 4.8s lose power with the LTs. I would say some gears, intake, exhaust, cam and valvesprings, and tune to back it all up and youll have a nice performance motor. you can also do a stall with the cam maybe a small one like 2200-2400 range.

With full bolt ons, cam, and valve springs I picked up around 100 hp to the wheels.
