Which Fuel Tank do I need? 2011 Tahoe LTZ 4x4 5.3

Hello,

I may need to replace the fuel tank (26 gallon) on my wife's 2011 Tahoe LTZ 5.3 4x4 and am unsure what tank is needed. When searching online I find two GM part numbers and the prices are drastically different.

I wonder if one is for a bare tank and the other has the pump. But on my two sources, ACDelco and GMPartsGiant, each only shows one and not the same.

That's what I was thinking also. The price difference would make it seem so.

The problem was the fuel tank wouldn't accept gas. When trying fill up, the nozzel would just click repeatedly unless you filled up at a snails pace which took close 30min.

It turns out I don't need the tank as it was the charcole canister from the EVAP system that decenagrated and clogged all the lines. They were able to replace the canister, flush the lines, and clean the tank. Now all is well again!

Thanks for following up. It’s a common problem, and there are lots of threads here on it. Its a good idea to replace that charcoal canister every 10 years as a preventative maintenance item.

When filling up do not try to get every last drop of gas into the tank. Just round off to the next dollar when pump clicks off and leave it. Overfilling forces gas into the charcoal canister and kills them.
Of course if you bought used you have no idea what the previous owner did.

I have a similar issue with my used 07 Suburban. The return air vent line is clogged and don't allow air to vent when fueling at the pump. I need to replace my canister also but until then you can refuel by using 5 gallon cans and doing a manual pour which works out. It's just a PITA doing it that way.
