I've taken my 2003 Tahoe in to get a whining fixed on cold startup now 3 times, and the dealership keeps saying they fixed it, but it never gets fixed. Every morning, the engine area produces a whine, until it heats up then it goes away. It seems worse on colder mornings. The whining does get louder as accerlation goes up. Any experience with this? The dealer said the belts were fine, the replaced some kind of tension rod or something, that didn't work. THis is driving me crazy, and I don't want to take it into these idiots agains so they can try to charge me for something they can't fix. Please help.

It is prolly just the belt which gets wet and squeals until it drys off. My newer belt did it for 3-4 months and still does it with dew covered morning and days after pouring rain outside...its annoying but all GM experts I talk to say its normal :(

Just a stab in the dark, but does your truck have A/C? If so, try taking off the belt that runs the compressor (not sure if it has it's own but my denali does) and see if that stops the whining! Remember, just a stab in the dark! Keep us informed!

Is it for sure coming from the engine? My left speaker has a wine similar to what you are talking about. Bad ground. Just posting what I have run into. Keep us posted!
