I dont know who told you steam "isnt a long term fix".. it is, its just a part of the fix, not the whole fix. You could cut out and replace only the bad foam if you wanted, but oem will cost about the same, and is easier.I went with Seat Shop's durafoam when I replaced the driver's seat lower upholstery, and kind of wish I had gone with the OEM foam instead. The durafoam is more firm and, at least in my mind, not as comfortable as the OEM. That said, it works fine and after a while I have gotten used to it.
