What is it? How's it used?
it is one of the positive battery cable loom holders/retainers that keeps the battery cable held up along the firewall

apparently they only come with a new cable or ****** one from a junk yard

kind of irritating, ya I can zip tie it but just janky to do it that way when there is a perfectly good part to do with it.

Get you a pack of zip ties with mounting holes:

...and a nut that fits that stud. You'll probably find more uses for these later in life so getting a pack is worth it. Or, if you know an electrician or cable/satellite installer, they're likely to have some and might give you a few. Maybe check with your local audio shop.

thanks (good idea for future reference), I already popped the gun and bought a whole positive cable that has 5 of them on it, I need 2 so I will have 3 extra's
$40 for the cable, stupid things would probably be $7-8 each if they were available anyway and I don't have to spend $30 in gas to go out of town to ****** some off a wrecked nnbs.

If you think that's bad, I just found out that to remove a bolt for the front fender on the new model Cruze ( my daughter's car) you end up breaking the corner of the windshield. She got into a minor fender bender and it just got more expensive for her insurance company.

that's great, I didn't even go into the metal "s" clip that holds the coil harness in place "not sold separate" that's like $200+
I have the better half of the clip, going to have a small piece tack welded on there and slap it back on,
its not really that big a deal but it's the point that it should be offered separate so you don't have to make your engine all janky just to prevent problems down the road
