I am thinking about tinting my truck myself. I can get a pre-cut kit with tools, a brow and everything for just over a hundred bucks here: http://store.northerntint.com/index.html.

And I can get what ever percent I want. I dont have any hookups here for less than the 27%. They do allow as dark as I want on the back as long as there is no tint at all up front.

So who here has done tint themselves? Is it a PITA? Is it worth it?

tinting is hard but just like anything else the more you do it the better you get.

I say go for it. If you don't like it take it off and start over :) I'd buy a bulk roll of it, cuz you know the first few times you do it you'll mess it up. Then when you get good at it you can make money on the side doing it :D

Yeah, I didnt check out their bulk rolls. Might take a look at that. I dont really plan on doing it too much though. My truck, maybe my brothers and then any car I get in the future. Im just doing it so I can go a bit darker and save a hundred bucks.

That is the place I order my precut tint. I have ordered 6 sets from them and they are all cut perfect.

Precut tint makes a little easier to do but it still takes a little practice to get it perfect.

If you plan on doing your other rides in the future then I'd definitely encourage learning to do it. It will keep paying for itself as you get better and better. This is a skill I plan on teaching myself as well but have yet to find the time...

Thanks for the input on the site!

I have been watching some youtube videos and it actually doesnt look that hard to do. It looks like the main part is keeping it wet and making sure everything is very clean.

Well I think I'm gonna go ahead and do it. It comes out to $105 for their high quality 2-ply stuff and includes all cut outs, a brow, the install dvd, full install kit and a warranty.

I think I will get 5% and see how I like it. I can always get separate pieces later.
