Dude, it isn't excuses. There truly is a significant issue w/ availability of semiconductors. I am in an industry heavily reliant on them, we are seeing lead times of 3-4x what they were pre-pandemic, in some cases as long as 60 weeks. This is not the car manufacturers alone (although one could argue toward building designs to offer that have fewer semiconductors -- and I am sure this will eventually happen).
The issues are complex, exacerbated by a few things, but this article does a pretty good job of outlining the issues...I know it sucks, but it is an issue that hits more than cars...don't just ***** about GM sucking, its truly a global issue. Educate yourself about it a little. And, if it suits you, go buy that Corolla.
As the semiconductor shortage persists, the automotive industry will likely benefit from new sourcing models and stronger bonds between OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and semiconductor suppliers.
