I have an 03 Tahoe Z71

Working on the a/c system and replacing the compressor, the condenser and the accumulator (and the orifice tube). I am going to take it to my local shop to have the system vacuumed out and filled with refrigerant when all of my work is done.

Question 1: Does the new condenser need any oil added to it before I put it on?

Question 2: Should I have the tubes/hoses all connected and the belt on when I take it in to the shop? I know you have to be careful with the accumulator so that the desiccant doesn't get exposed to air. My shop is about 1/4 mile away.

Thanks for your help!

im not an expert on A/C but I'm sure the condenser don't need any oil, oil goes in the compressor and for Question 2. yes you must connect all hoses and belts before you go to the shop. hope that helps you out

Did the compressor fail internally? Is there metal in the system (check the old orifice tube for shrapnel. If there is metal in there, you will need to flish the system using A/C flush and shop air before the new components go back in. If your truck has rear (aux) A/C, those lines/evaporator need to be flushed also. If there was no shrapnel in the system and you are replacing the condenser and the accumulator, add full system charge of oil to the compressor itself before installation. MAke sure you drain the new compressor of shipping oil first so you are not adding the full system charge on top of that. Full system charge is posted below.

Depends. If you are doing a repair and just replacing certain components, you drain the oil from that component, measure what you took out and add the same amount to the new component directly.
