Got hit by a guy running a red last night. Looks like it might likely be totaled. Anyone know what insurance pays out on these and how much it could be to buy back? 97 yukon gt with 168k

Body damage on front clip, drivers door, and rear quarter panel. Wheel is bent in so not sure the damage there. Estimates from any keen eyes out there? I'll update when I talk to insurance people and everything.

I was really attached to this truck, it's been a sad day. I hit my head pretty ******* impact but besides a headache I'm ok.

probably totaled. Value is about $4,000 (from insurance's prospective) and I'm guessing that's more than 70% value to get fixed.

Yea what he said. Imo you can repair it if it means that much to you or can make it a toy. Buy it back don't let insurance keep it. Worst case part it

unknown at this time.
rear can be redone by pulling likely. for the front take the wheel off and see what collapsed inward. looks like the bottom end of suspension may have taken the most damage tho.

totaled my yukon GT at Christmas. It was in much worse condition than yours is. It was a hit and run. The guy hit me on ice and left me in a spin and two rolls. The whole body was smushed down and egged out the sides. Needless to say the only body panel that was saveable was only one rear barn door and my brush guard. Mine was not fixable at all... I have state farm and they offered me 5500$. If youve done any work show them receipts. I worked mine up to 6400$. That is what insurance gave me along with a personal injury settlement. This is what i learned from the adjuster, "GM vehicles are more sought after, (what i mean here is the insurance company can sell it for more for parts. Insurance adjuster told me that they send wrecked and totaled vehicles to third world countries. they take them apart and then sell the parts) Insurance gives more money for them thus requiring a higher buy back price. My 97 yukon with 170k on the clock would have cost me 5977$ to buy back from them. Leaving me 400$ to fix it." Need to just talk to your insurance and see what they say. Sorry for the long post to read!

Here is what i did:
1. Search and make a list of the pieces YOU know are BAD and will need REPLACED
2. Dont show this to the insurance. This is solely your list.
3. Your in a diferent situation as me so it may be different. Mine was a hit and run and claimed under uninsured motorist. You are going to get to claim yours under the others guys insurance.
4. If it is anything like my settlement and buy back price i would run from it and get something else. You have to think about body panels, interior panels, front right wheel components, possibly have to pull out the rear (which could render bad alighnment forever.... This is just a rough outline for you to consider.

Again sorry for the long post. Glad you are okay! Trucks are replaceable.... people are not....

Forgot to add... IF for example they give you 5500$ and your buy back is 5000$ that leaves you with 500$ to fix it and then your own pocket money to throw at it. Just wanted to clear up my own post before any questions were asked. Another thing to think about is having this wrecked vehicle on your property and trying to find people to buy all your parts and having to ship parts to them. Yes it can be done but to me it is more pain then gain. You never know if the frame is bent and if it is fixed it may never dry right again or it might not keep tires on it due to alignment issues...

Sorry about the truck man, but glad you're ok. If you decide to part it or let insurance take it, I'll buy the RR fender flare (if it is still good).
