Ok so on my 06 Yukon XL Denali my rear airshocks have blown out and compressor is toast, however I don't have any messages. Oh well, so as I have been doing research on this fix or conversion and pricing everything out I have found that there isn't much of a price difference by the time I buy new shocks and springs and resistors to convert it. I can get a new Arnott Rear Air Ride Suspension Strut & Compressor Kit for $365 or replace with Bilstein shocks and springs for $320. Since the price is so close I would like your opinion or pros and cons of each system.

I replaced autoride with billstein 5100`s and left the coil springs alone and I have no problems hauling stuff in the back. The suspension sags more when i load it but not much. I usually have 300 pounds of labrador retriever and about 2-300 pounds of other stuff while towing an 800 pound trailer loaded with a yamaha rhino that weighs 1200+ pounds with no adverse handling at all.

I don`t have an XL so im not sure if the extra weight would be too much for the stock springs but you can always get air bags that go inside the coils for about $90 from advance auto.

After replacing the compressor twice and my shocks looking like they wouldn`t last much longer i decided to go the simple route and i`m happy i did. I think it rides and handles better with the bilsteins as well.

never been a fan of air ride suspensions i like a stiff riding suspension
maybe its just me but i tend to more faith in your typical gas shock over an air bag
air suspension was originally designed for tractors that can haul up to 80000 lbs
