WTF is He Talking About? Tahoe Limited - 400 hp STOCK?

Is he BS'ing, or what? I've got a 2000 Limited, and not that I know everything about them, but I'd surely like to know what RPO code he's talking about (see the Q & A) that says his came with a special L31 from the factory with 400 hp!

I looked up L31 and it can mean one of two configurations:

L31 Engine: 5.7 Liter V8, CPI
L31 ENGINE GAS, 8 CYL, 5.7L, CPI, 409CID, 400HP (SPECIAL HIGH PERFORMANCE-SOLID LIFTER CAM)

The first one should pertain to the Tahoe he's selling. What would the second one be for? And how can 5.7l ever equate to 409 cubic inches?

Ah...it doesn't equate. Just like other GM engines, they sometimes re-used engine code numbers in different generation motors. Sounds like a late 50's or early '60's "409" motor.

Well kinda, the old 409s weren't CPI I think someone posted the wrong info on the web somewhere and now this.

I took it off CL...well, it kept getting flagged by flag abusers, and I just decided I'd like to keep it. I know I was asking a LOT for it, but that's what it's worth to me. At one point, I thought I might have a big bill I had to pay too, which I do not...so I'm happy to hang on it. I've thought about putting it on Ebay, but I'm happy to drive it a couple times/month...to remind me of it's awesomeness.
