Yellowish condensation under oil cap + low coolant warning

Better than a blown head gasket! You gotta drive that thing more or it's lifespan will be shorter than it should be.

I definitely agree with you on that one! As a side note, my SES (service engine soon/check engine) light came on this morning on my way to work. Got it checked after work and I got the following codes:

P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfore Detected
P0171 - System too Lean (bank 1)
P0174 - System too Lean (bank 2)
C0281 - Brake Switch Circuit

O'Reilly printed out some common repair procedures for them and it looks like I'll be doing some maintenance this weekend.

and that short trip is why you get the gunk under the cap. hell ive taken mine off my regal and water ran out from the top of the cap.

all condensation is made by repeated short trips, gets hot, then cold, never gets really hot enough to burn the water off.

My truck does usually get up to operating temp by the time I get to work if that makes any difference.

Also, about once a month I take a ~175 mile trip to see family and when it's warmer I like to take longer trips out to the lake or the woods for some fishing or camping.

The coolant gets up to temp, as shown on the gauge. But the engine needs to be at these temperatures for more than just a few minutes to burn the condensation out of it. That 175-mile trip is definitely a help. It's the twice-daily 4-mile trips you take the other 20 days of the month that bring on the water.

Still, you can't forget to keep an eye on the coolant level.

this is typical of the castech heads everyone. you must pull all the rockers on one side and remove the rocker guide plate and look for the symbol. kinda looks like a flashlight battery laying on its side. your oil pan will have 1/4" of sludge on the bottom that wont go away no matter how hot or how much you drive it. eventually you will have a problem!

you need to replace your intake gasket, we all did!

Good point. I personally have never dealt with the Castech problem but have heard it mentioned a lot. Never heard of where it leaks, though.

I was wondering how long it'd be before someone questioned that. I JUST added that to my sig a few days ago as a joke. There's this ***** character here from upstate NY that discovered this secret performance mod a few days ago. It alters the responsiveness of the accelerator and brake pedals and it can be adjusted from 0% to over 100%. There is a product called the "Pedal Commander" that alters the throttle's responsiveness and range, but this adjusts BOTH the brake and throttle pedals and it's a factory-installed option on certain trim levels. If you have the button on the left of the three in this picture:

...then your vehicle is equipped with this incredible performance feature! It's easy to operate, too! You hold your right foot wherever you're comfortable and press and hold this button until the pedals react to your preference. Holding the top of the button decreases the sensitivity/responsiveness, holding the bottom increases it. There's a lesser-advanced feature that does about the same thing, but it also alters the relative position of the driver to the steering wheel and other controls. The adjustment switch for this is on the left side of the seat bottom if it's the electronic version. If it's the primitive mechanical version, it is adjusted by pulling up on the lever/bar and lunging your torso fore or aft to adjust the pedals' responsiveness.

Genius, that ***** is!
