Hello,

I just bought a 2006 Yukon last week and I have a few questions that maybe y'all can help me with. Please don't throw rocks at me if these are questions that have been covered already; I have tried doing a bit of searching, but haven't found much... so if anyone can at least point me towards a write-up that I may have overlooked (I looked through the entire write-up section), that would be great. :)

My first question is, does anybody know where I can find replacement bulbs for the A/C controls (I have the automatic dual climate control) and steering wheel buttons? Any tips as far as the install? I just converted all of my dash lights in my Altima to LED's, but I'd prefer to keep this Yukon pretty close to stock, so if there are any relatively inexpensive options that don't require a full LED conversion, that would be awesome news for me.

Also, every time I drive the truck, I get the message "Service Stability Control" and intermittently get "Service Tire Monitor" (or it may say "service tire pressure monitor"... I don't remember exactly right off hand). Does anyone know what the most probably causes for these issues are? Dirty connection somewhere? Expensive component to replace?

Additionally, my check engine light is on and my scanner is displaying code P0449: Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve / Solenoid Circuit. Any experience with this particular code? Any tips as far as diagnosing the exact cause of it?

Last question (holds very little importance)... is there any way to set the fog lights to come on by default? And by that, I don't mean wire them directly into some other lighting source.

Thanks,
Rob

I can try on questions 1, 2 and 4.
1. You cannot just replace the bulbs for the A/C controls. New LED minis will have to be soldered in place of the old ones to get them working again. There is a write up in the tech section of 00-06 on how to do that.

2. Service stabilitrak is normally caused by something going wrong with the ABS sensor for it in each wheels area. I normally only can diagnose that if it it lowering/lifting suspesnion mod related. If it was supesnion mod related there i normally a service traction control message too? Is that th case with yours? Check to makes sure all the ABS sensors are plugged in properly.
Also your tire monitor sensors may need to be reprogrammed , or replaced because one or more of them may be broke. To find out which exactly is sourcing the issue check the PSI on all 4 tires from the DIC and look for a "----" reading.
If all of them display that then either your wheels are missing the TPMS sensors altogether, or they all have the sensors but are not programmed. It could be that they are all broke, but i doubt that.

4. Their is way to get fogs to turn on with the low beam lights automatically by installing a diode in the fuse box from the for light relay, to the low beam fuse. Their is also a write up on that in the 00-06 tech section.

You can buy new steering wheel control buttons, or buy mini LEDs and solder them in.

Thanks for the answers guys, I will look for those write-ups. :)

Do you know right off hand of any places that I could find new buttons from?

Thanks

Here is the part number for the backlight bulbs for the button on the A/C controller that I used:

RadioShack # 272-1154 and they were 2 bucks a piece!! Super easy to do and they look great, just did mine yesterday!

Thanks for the replies... Clearly this isn't going to be as easy as I was hoping for, haha. You would think that GM would make something as simple as light bulbs replaceable without a soldering iron, haha.

Rivieraracing - thanks! That should help some. :) Is the same bulb used for the backlight behind the temperature adjusting knob? That's actually the only light that's out in the A/C controls.

Edit: Nobody has any experience with P0449?

These daggum emissions are eating my lunch. Both of my vehicles are throwing emissions codes, lol. At least Louisiana doesn't do smog testing.
