Not sure what to call it, but by the rocker, there is the grey plastic moulding, then it looks like a factory applied film or something, also in grey. im getting some early signs of rust, only on the drivers rear door on the bottom lip, and on this area. can i just peel off this film and repair, can i or should i even bother with trying to replace this film?

took me a couple days, but between the black part, and the outer grey moulding. im thinking i have to remove it to grind the rust down, i dont see any good reason to replace it.

I don`t have that on my yukon. I guess it`s only on a Z71 but i suspect that it`s the reason that rust has started there possibly holding in moisture. I`m no body guy but it couldn`t hurt to leave it off after you fix the rust.
