    As @mikez71 said, it's just a mark from the press that isn't centered. I've never seen them centered. Also, I agree with @Geotrash on the machining of that lifter. I think poor quality parts were used. I can't say if that cam is new or not. If it's new but also a low-quality part, perhaps...

    I forgot there was a snap-in factory replacement! I still prefer the super tight and firm seal I made, though. Although that new one looks to be wider and more dense than the original.

    I think the hole in the center should be much larger so the cover is more like a ring. Make it just big enough to cover the shiny part of the factory knob. Give the outside an off-road tire tread and then you'd have something the 4x4/Z71/country folk would buy.

    But one could be defective. You could swap the strut assemblies left-to-right to test, but you've already dickered with the different amounts of rings between the two. If you have it in you to put them both back even, reassemble and test, it might be worth it just to rule that out. Lol
