    Matching double din dash panel?

Hello, I have a 2002 Z71 Tahoe, and I would like to put the double din radio on. I noticed there are plenty of double din dash replacement panels online, but they are all solid black, or solid whatever color. Mine is two different colors, tan all around the outsides, with black inserts. (See...

    285 vs 295 on the Z71

I went with the 285, it does look nice. These are the Mastercraft Courser Trail HD's. I may be glad I didn't go bigger, I can already feel the weight difference when it comes to accelerating. Haha. I'll be curious to see how much my gas mileage changed.

    285 vs 295 on the Z71

Those do fit nicely. If I stick with the 285, I may at least try to get K02's, I think the tread looks a bit more aggressive

    285 vs 295 on the Z71

2002 Tahoe Z71, aftermarket keys to bring the front to level, otherwise everything else is stock. The current tires are just the factory size, and highway tread. I would like something a bit more aggressive and larger I went shopping at the tire stores today and they pretty much sold me on...

    1k RPM clatter

It seems to be different from the cold morning piston slap. The cold morning piston slap happens for only a few minutes, and is gone. The clattering seems like it won't show up until the motor is warmed up, and is more of a "clatter" than a piston slap. Sounds like two different things...

    1k RPM clatter

Thanks. I do let it sit and idle a few minutes before taking off usually, for that reason. Good to know the clatter is probably something that's not damaging anything. Going to look a little closer into it this morning in case it is something different, like what's mentioned above. what are...

    1k RPM clatter

Good points, I was thinking lifters from the sounds of it, but hard to tell. I'll get under the hood tomorrow and see if I can track it down, maybe it's something more simple.

    1k RPM clatter

Did a search, but haven't found much about this specific situation. 2002 Tahoe, 5.3, 217k miles. The 5.3 has has a quiet clattering sound right around the 1,000 rpm area. If you don't have the radio on, you notice it. Temp doesn't seem to matter, it was hot today and I ran errands for a few...

5.3 slap. Treat it or leave it?

Thanks for the responses, it has 218,000 mi on it and still runs great I will leave it alone and just continue doing proper oil changes

5.3 slap. Treat it or leave it?

I know the piston slap is pretty normal, and from what I read, doesn't really affect anything. My '02 Z71 Tahoe I picked up a couple months ago does it, and it is approaching its first oil change since I have owned it. I was curious if it is worth adding anything during this oil change to help...

Anyone running spacers on stock wheels? Pics?

Maybe mine got sucked in slightly from raising the front torsion bars or something. Mine are very obviously more narrow than the rear. Not sure why

Anyone running spacers on stock wheels? Pics?

Hoping to get some 33x12.50's for the Z71, but might end up with some 285/70r17's for now. Is anyone running spacers with stock wheels on the Z71 with this size tire? Would look nice to push them out level with the flares. It does seem that the front tires sit inwards more than the rear, So...

Getting rid of dead mouse smell?

If there is still a dead one in there somewhere, I don't know where he is hiding. I would think he would mummify and dry out eventually. Maybe I'm smelling a piss-covered nest somewhere. The only thing I haven't got to see yet is the headliner right around the sunroof. I'm not sure how hard it...

New torsion keys, do I also need the bars?

I'm not sure why I wasn't getting notifications on this thread, sorry for the late response. I didn't know anyone responded. Haha Interesting to know it is normal for them to be that loose. I did compare the keys and they are definitely turned more than the stock. It seems that the torsion...

New torsion keys, do I also need the bars?

Wanted to revive this thread after my interesting find on the torsion bar issue. And post my "fix", in case someone else runs into this. (Note this is all before alignment) So the truck sits as: Rear: 37.75" Front: 35.50" I put the 3" keys, and maxed them out at first. To my disappointment the...

    Loosing lift after alignment?

Got the '02 Z71 almost leveled with some lift keys. Sitting 1/4" lower in the front, which isn't bad. You can definitely tell the tires are pulled in a lot from lifting it, so it will be going in for alignment on Friday. This brought a question to mind. When they straighten the tires back out...

Getting rid of dead mouse smell?

The previous owner lived on a farm and told me that he was cleaning the inside and left all the doors open when he went in the house to eat lunch, and afterwards is when he started finding the poop. Then it started smelling. So it looks like they jumped in at that point and got stuck inside. I...

Tires, lifts, spacers, and the combination

I may try these first then, if they give a smoother ride. If they will lift it 2" to level it may work out. If not I may just have to switch it to the Ford keys. I'm assuming 3" is probably the max you would want to go before it causes problems with the drive line as well. That's the way it was...

Tires, lifts, spacers, and the combination

Wow, my 3" keys may not be enough then, considering my stocks are maxed out and I'm 2" low still. So the Ford keys give more height then the 3" lift keys, I didn't know that. I may need to send them back and go the Ford route.

Tires, lifts, spacers, and the combination

Oddly my front seems to be in about 1/2 to 3/4" compared to the back. Not sure why. It's not very noticeable, but if you really look you can see it. I assumed that's the way they all were. Maybe it has something to do with my front suspension. I don't mind trimming wheel studs, but it would...

Tires, lifts, spacers, and the combination

Ah, if the front can handle a 2-in spacer, then I guess that would just keep the stock tracking if the rear needed a 2-in also. That wouldn't be bad. Of course I'll try to keep them in as much as I can, I prefer not to run very big spacers, but whatever the spacing needs to be, as long as they...

Tires, lifts, spacers, and the combination

That's great to hear, maybe this won't need as much of adjustment as I was thinking. The new ones I'm getting will be 33's, so that will help some also, dropping two inches down from the 35. I'm really hoping the rear won't need big spacers, the back tires already track wider than the front...

Getting rid of dead mouse smell?

Thanks! The ozone machine is similar to what the detail shop did I think. I haven't heard of the Pooft from Amazon, I'll check it out also. I thought about replacing carpet, it may come down to that. Adding insulation when going back is a pretty good idea, I'll probably do that if it comes...
