Brake upgrade??

Baer makes a 15" rotor that just uses a caliper bracket to kick the caliper back a bit. They are about $600/set. The make a matching 14" rear rotor as well.

Best decent price brake upgrade:

1. hyrdroboost swap (junkyard) - $200-250
2. Stainless Steel brake lines (russell brand) - $100
3. GMT 900 front brake swap (calipers w/bracket and new pads/rotors) $300

I do not agree with a larger rotor when the caliper remains the same size so the breaking area only applies to the increased distance on the rotor not more friction surface area on the pads.

i have a 2003 Yukon XL 2500....

does the same brake rotor upgrade apply? or does my 3/4 ton have different brakes already?

answered my own question from googling.. it looks like both NBS and NNBS in the 2500 line, have 12.8 inch rotors.

where as NBS has 12 and NNBS has 13 in the 1500 size.

I agree with you. BUT big rotors sure do look cool behind big wheels!!

I have a re-maned hydro boost and used master if any one wants it. CHEAP CHEAP

Whether you are upgrading to the later model larger brakes or staying with the stock size replacements. There is no better value for those on a budget than R1Concepts drilled and slotted rotors and their ceramic pads as a package. I have run them on several larger trucks and never had one issue. This can be said of those that have ordered them through me over the years. Those that have not upgraded the size of their brakes have nothing but good things to say about the upgraded parts performance.

New New Body Style

2007-present body style. Front rotors are an inch bigger in diameter and calipers are a bit larger as well. You will need to have at least 17" wheels to clear the NNBS size rotors.

I thinking of doing the same except the +07 rears I heard are actually smaller than the ones you had to start with.. Where did you toyo get you calipers?? Just the local parts store?

really i never heard about the rear being smaller i told they were the same but i might be wrong. the front ones are 1" bigger. and yes local parts store i got mine at autozone

Straight bolt on replacements.

Make sure you get the new 2007+ calipers and brackets, your old brackets won't work. Same mounting bolt holes on the knuckle are used, though.

You'll probably also want to pick up a couple new banjo bolts for the brake line attachment to the new calipers, if they don't come with them.

I did the nnbs brake swap to mine and am really happy with the braking. On stock wheels (17) it stops I feel a lot faster, with the 24" wheels the braking is also great. For the price and from my experience I would recommend doing this swap.
