Oversized lifter bore CSP

Saw this on GM Authority a few days ago and there seems to be nothing on it other than what was posted on GMA.

I saw that article. One possibly or explanation as to why some engines have had recent rod/main failures IS because of the oversized lifter bores.

The oil galley enters the camshaft and lifters first, then goes to the main (and rods are lubricated through the mains inside the crankshaft.) At least that's true on the Gen III/IV blocks. If excessive clearance occurs at the lifters bores, oil pressure will drop anywhere after that on the hydraulic circuit.

I know excessive cam bearing clearances can cause low oil pressure. This is really no difference scenario, only the excessive clearance is at the lifter bores.

Went to dealer earlier this week for service and had them check my VIN. Nothing listed as open as detailed on the attached bulletin.

This is important information for anyone who recently purchased or is considering a '23:

"All GM Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the SHIFT Digital system will be de-certified and must be held and remedied per the service procedure in this bulletin."

"Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this program at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, through May 31, 2026."
