I am starting to put some $$ back into my 2001 Yukon XL Denali. One of the mods I want to do is change the hood. I don't like how the hood is designed and would like to change it with the Suburban hood. Does anyone know if the Suburban hood will fit with not mods?

Go get the HD Hood, but it will need to be modified due to the different head light assembly on the Yuk. It will look killer.

The 2001 Yukon XL 2500 has a different hood?

---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:25 PM ----------

Goal is to get a hood is raised not shallow like the stock hood. Just seems backwards to have a hood that sinks in the middle instead of raised like the suburban. So if anyone knows of an aftermarket product without modifying the hood I would appreciate it.

No. The Yukon XL 2500 has the same hood as the Yukon. The Tahoe/Suburban hood is still the same basic hood as the Yukon except for where it meets the headlights. The "HD" hood that everyone talks about was only available on the Silverado HD trucks from the years 2000 to 2002. That hood is a direct swap for Tahoe's and Suburban's and can be modified to fit Yukon's and Yukon XL's.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Off to find hood.

Is there a lot of modifications that needs to be done to make it fit? Assuming it's a body shop job?

I would say that all you would have to do is shave/trim both corners of the hood to make up for the different headlight style on a Yukon vs. a Tahoe.

YES, body shop work.

HD hood is the way to go. I had a cowl hood for awhile and not to long ago, I traded it for an HD hood and I am beyond happy that I did. My buddy just got an HD hood for his Yukon and with about an hour worth of work it looks killer. Not a hard mod at all.

Sounds like a plan. I really like the look of the Silverado hoods and can't wait to complete this project. Thanks all!
