Hey guys... I recently failed a smog check because of catalytic

converters:wtf:

One is Walker part no. 81916. that I purchased from autozone and had

installed quite recently. The other one part no. 712006 was on the truck

when I passed smog 2 years ago. Smog tech said both were not legal. He

also talked about engine family??? and that I might have a federal vehicle??? I am

going to call the State Smog Check something or other tomorrow. Hopefully

this wont be a huge pain in the A$$. Anyways, just be careful what you

install in CA:Nonono:

Unless the smog tech can see an e.o number stamped on the converter they can be considered illegal in cali. Things have changed in the last few years. If you have a federal or cali vehicle it makes no difference once you need to replace a cat in cali sand register it. it must have cali converters. Magnaflow sells the complete assembly #445453 at amazon for $500 it can be put on any vortec 350 in every state. They use to cost about $700. All bolt on.

thanks for the reply... I talked to somebody at the state smog ref office and he said those cats would be ok. The guy who failed me although helpful doesn't seem to know whats going on. He claimed there are no aftermarket cats legal for my vehicle.:wtf: I will have to make some more phone calls.

CA has to be the most retarded state in the country, it truly needs to become its own island somewhere in the pacific.

Lol....I would defend my state but but I'm drawing a blank. I told my mom who works in police records about the state screwing me. She said shes seen quite a few police reports on cats being stolen off of cars. Recycling maybe.

There is money in the metals used in the catalyst material.

We have the most people, u.s. house seats, electoral votes and third largest state in size behind Alaska where the Palin family gets out of a stretched hummer and gets into a trash on trash fight and make the whole human race look badand Texas who's governor could not remember that one of the U.S. Departments he wanted to get rid off was education(Oops!) and wines about succession. So given that, kiss my big fat white ass and stop your wining.

Update.........., I went to a smog referee station and he said he would pass me with those cats. The catch is though I have to get a tailpipe put on. My exhaust dumps right before the axle and the ref says its a safety hazard to run the sniffer hose there. Whatever...I wanted a tailpipe anyway. I don't get why some people cut them off. Too much interior noise in my opinion. Its amazing how much a few feet of pipe cuts down the decible level. Anyways I have to make another appointment and I should be good. :boti:
