Fluid Replacement - Good PM Practice or Waste of $$

nothing obvious about that assumption Keep in mind; Cummins recommends not prefilling oil filters due to people getting the foil covering from the oil containers on the clean side of the filter causing bearing damage. personally, I want to minimize touches and maximize maintenance; not sure...

Fluid Replacement - Good PM Practice or Waste of $$

I follow GM's schedule; I'd only go severe schedule if the vehicle is actually in severe duty.

    07 Denali oil pressure talk

i disagree, here is why a single o ring fills the void between the metal surfaces, sealing happens since the o ring(s) being used are the wrong size they are not sealing between the metal surfaces as such the two o rings need to seal between themselves. The o ring to o ring connection will...

don't do this, same reason you don't double up on oil filter gaskets, 2 will leak

    Another oil pressure concern

spec is 10psi per 1000 rpm; so 20psi at idle is still within happy land I had a similar behaving 2007 (https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/2007-oil-pressure-thread-with-success.153047/) I swapped the oil pump / O-ring; had a big change in psi

    Engine oil pressure issue

Which oil pump did you install? What was the oil pressure before the pump swap? Low oil pressure will be caused by either lack of volume coming out of the pump or the engines tolerances (bearing clearance's, check valves open, lifters, etc) unable to maintain the desired pressure. If we...

Which Anti-Gel Additive for Cold Weather?

to the question above; find stations selling #1 diesel; that will be good for any temp you get into in the lower 48 I'm in ND, we had -35F ambient last week, our daily drivers are a 3.0 duramax and a 3.0 ecodiesel. We don't use additives, we run #1 when it gets below say -15F (blend will work...

    Possible low engine oil pressure

correct, but... since you have to take the timing cover off to swap the oil pump. If you start with the work (o-ring/pump) from the front first, zero rework if you later need to go into the pan for the relief valve.

    Possible low engine oil pressure

The 2qt test with the back of the vehicle raised is supposed to test for a bad O-ring (not a bad pump). If the O-ring was the only issue, I'd expect the psi rise to get it back into normal operating (so maybe a 15-20psi raise). Personally, I wouldn't drop the pan, I'd do everything from the...

Is Cadillac dealer service any better than GMC?

in a past life I worked in various dealerships across a few brands (Ford, Chevy, GMC) this part "It's all how they're managed" is 100% spot on Audi / BMW / Merc do have a better service experience in the main; but they also focus on it more than our domestics my suggestion; go into those...

    Possible low engine oil pressure

I just went through similar scenario https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/2007-oil-pressure-thread-with-success.153047/ You've hit on 3 options; other could be clearances in the engine allowing for a lower psi. For me, I went the pump / O-ring route as the costs were low (<$200...

2007 oil pressure thread with success

looks like this, low snow so didn't have the ski's on; the house is pulled over the ski's, they attach with webbing, then the house will slide over the top vs being dragged through

2007 oil pressure thread with success

2007 Tahoe, 4x4 5.3, 217k miles, I bought it for track duty. Bought 'as is' with the intel that the oil pressure was intermittently 'not great'. I purchased it and drove it 50 miles, it wasn't great but not horrible (~30psi). Installed the tracks, changed oil, swapped the screen and the...

    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

have you met the general public? I bet maybe 1/2 are running premium; lets go with 10% if they are rentals

    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

the slight knocks prior to timing being pulled are not enough to damage the engine; that's what happens, all the time all day long if you were correct, every 6.2 running 87 would be dead on the side of the road; but that isn't the case not sure what your odb challenge is supposed to prove; I'm...
