Looking for some help with transfer case wiring 2001 Tahoe 246 transfer case I swapped the transfer case and apparently got a couple wires crossed because I instantly got abs lights transmission won't shift out of second gear there for plugs that all have the same end obviously I have a couple crossed not sure how many the only thing I could find was a diagram but did not have color coding so I could only go by length of wire pulled all the plugs back off try to determine wire colors at least two of the plugs have the same color wires can somebody help me how to verify what plug goes where the diagram online doesn't help because it doesn't show the colors of the wire thank you

Surely not the encoder motor wires. Are these connectors for the speed sensors?

EDIT: if there are two sensors involved, and the wires reach, maybe swap the connections between the two. One should be the vehicle speed sensor and the other for the front propshaft.

yeah actually 3 are speed sensors. front ds,rear ds and VSS but two have same color wires the 3rd are different colors. I'm hoping to find what colors go to which sensor to eliminate options

Not sure if this is for yours, but has colors and front and rear sensors.

Again, not sure if this helps, but the VSS is probably what is inhibiting the driveability. Get that one right and you can figure out the two sensors for the 4x4.

What wire colors do you have? (I think that the VSS adapter shown in the circuit is on the transmission, which might be a clue for your system.)

okay great that helps. the VSS was the colors I couldn't find info. on. I found the colors for front and rear driveshaft speed sensors so armed with this helpful info. I can maybe figure out tomorrow. thank you a bunch for the help. I usually tape and label in this situation but with only 4 plugs i figured not necessary until I realized too late all four plugs were the exact 2 pin plug. I just did the entire motor swap in this truck without labeling and had no issues. thanks again.

Got it figured out I had the wires in the wrong spot one of the big issues was bad information on Google show me the position of the VSS, lots of information phone Google shows it as the sensor on the passenger side of the transfer case when in fact it's the one on the driver side opposing the other sensor which is the rear drive shaft speed sensor[A, thank you so much for your help hat drawing that's how I figured it out and I couldn't find that online so thank youfull]227739[/ATTACH]

Good deal! I'm thinking that later TC versions have only one driveshaft sensor instead of two, but I'm not sure. You never quite know what the general wiring diagrams are going to show since there can be variations over the years.

It does have a front DS speed sensor but with help from Diagram that was different color wires easier to single out and the location of that sensor above the front DS output was more obvious to identify. I'm wondering if it would be beneficial for me to post a picture of the transfer case that is out of the truck showing all 3 sensors and mark up photo with identification edits? or maybe I'm the only big dummy that didn't know:crazy:
