and thats why we use manual(M) mode to cap the gear from blowing the transmission. on the uphill....

Please explain to me how Manual mode keeps from blowing the trans on an uphill. The trans will downshift if necessary no matter what gear is selected. If he was in M5 it will shift to 4th if needed without him doing it. All M does it keep it from shifting up past your selection.

Or am I missing something?

it allows finer control over which gear is used also if your towing you should be using the Highest Octane fuel available 91 or 93 octane

this will keep it from down shifting prematurely..

I don't care what the manual says about 87 the minimum octane.. it's pretty oblivious that 91/93 octane helps the engine perform better under load and under AFM...

STOPS Active fuel management engine knock (Verified by OBD2 computer readings )

(not talking about Valve clapping that is a whole another issue caused by AFM Rapid cycling loop while using low octane fuel 87)...

the highest speed i had AFM was 1900RPM 80MPH i think the Maximum Cap for AFM is 2,000rpm

Im not really interested in paying 10$ a gallon for 100 octane unleaded racing fuel just to bring the octane to 93 i would have to spend $60

if your interested in knowing my engine does not burn oil I check the levels of my fluids every 500 miles (oil changes at 4,000 miles )... it has 90,6xx miles on it..

I used 1qt 0w30 mobil1 and 5qt of 5w30 mobil1 Full synthetic EP

In manual mode, AFM is deactivated.
then why bother to get a tuner to turn it off it would seem silly to pay 200-300 when you can just

put it in M

Just got back on here after not being on for a few years. That transmission was able to limp about 45 miles from home on the way home. Torque convertor let go. Almost traded the truck in at the bottom of the mountain for a new suburban, but couldn't stomach 90+k price tag. Put a new trans in, all was good until a dod lifter turned in the block a few months back and wiped the block. Found that while doing a DOD swap. Bought a new 6.2, put a btr cam in it and sent it! shes a beast now. But looks like i'll be upgrading the trans again before too long!

Some of those transmission upgrades you can do without removing it to extend its life behind the 6.2. See @skpyle thread with lots of photos on the subject.

It's cheaper to keep her.
