Had a quick question. I’ve been getting OEM/ACDelco parts on Amazon. I was told supposedly to stay away from Amazon with that because there are knock off companies that advertise them as OEM but they really are not.?

My understanding is that the way Amazon works is… when you buy an item, it may have 10 different suppliers for the same item… all 10 suppliers send their same item to Amazon for distribution. Amazon then puts all the items from the 10 different suppliers into 1 bin (hypothetical speaking). Then they sell the item to you. So if 1 of them 10 suppliers sent in knock off equipment, it will now be mixed in the bin and now the possibility of you getting a knock off is there.

I hope that was easy to understand.

FWIW, I haven't bought OEM from Amazon, but have from eBay; mostly NOS parts.

On eBay, you have to be very careful; there are both factory and aftermarket sellers. Practice will make you better at differentiation. Factory packaging and factory part numbers are two of the clues I use.

This is why I don't buy from Amazon.
ebay's not much better, but over 99% feedback for over 5 years is usually enough to make me feel better about the purchase.

I always check an eBay seller's feedback. It doesn't help me if his/her feedback is from buying.

I buy UPF gold oil filters and ACD Fuel filters on there....So far they have all been authentic and worked well.

But I bought a refrigerator filter on there that has an imbedded microchip, and the Amazon factory replacement actually did NOT have this internal chip... a knock off... and I stopped buying them on there for this reason....Even tho it was in an "OEM" box....

Easy to duplicate/copy an "OEM" box.

(Assuming that the microchip was not for location monitoring or purchase tracking,)
what is the purpose of putting a microchip on this filter?
Just 'cause the box is OEM, doesn't mean the contents are.

We are living in the age of caveat emptor.

I've had mixed success with Amazon on OEM stuff. Luckily the one I felt was a knockoff was a MAP sensor which didn't work, so it wasn't a big deal. Other items I've ordered have been OEM, or a very good knock off appearance as such.

But, I usually stick to ROCK AUTO or Valleyparts.com. GM Parts Direct hosed me on a $600 mirror that luckily buyer protection from PayPal fought for me on and got a refund.
