That was probably a recruiter or DOD vehicle. When you go above and beyond in armed forces and they don’t want to lose you, the perks rain down.

Someone probably finished out the tail end of their 20 or 30 year career in that vehicle. Great find and a really cool piece of history.

It’d be kinda cool to place a very small shield on the back to pay homage.

Whatever it was used for, it was stationed at Vandenburg AFB in SoCal. In the navigation system there are numerous other AF base addresses. Car Fax says it was serviced a time or two at the dealer in Lompoc, CA. It has a good, firm shift - perhaps like a locking torque converter. I hope that is a good sign........

You got a cream puff. That would be Vandenburg Space Force Base now. That thing may have never seen an unpaved road.
