Hi,
I had a lifter collapse on my 2013 Yukon Hybrid and we did a AFM Delete on the motor.
It is now due for emissions and it keeps coming as "not ready" for the test.
Report is showing catalyst convertor, evap, oxygen sensor & oxygen sensor heater are not ready for testing.

I got a splitter for the AFM so it could stay plugged in while the emissions place also plugs their stuff in. Didn't work.

I have not tried to do a drive test in consecutive order but will do this tomorrow.
cold start, AC & rear defrost on, accelerate to 55+ for 3 minutes, decelerate to 20mph, accelerate to 55+ for 5 minutes, decelerate to 20mph

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to get my car past emissions?!

Thanks so much for any help!!!!

Hit the link below and scroll down to the drive cycle details in post #3. There are some very specific conditions (fuel level, ECT vs IAT absolute and delta, etc.) that need to be met for the cold start and if those aren't met, nothing's going to happen.

Some scanners can also perform some monitor tests.

wait.. you did a put non afm lifters in and not turn it off in the tune but still use the plug in to the obd2 port dongle thingy?

I've not used those, but thats now how I understood those to work. I thought once you removed the vlom solenoids you needed to turn it off in the tune and also those dongle work by blocking requesting something that also keeps the monitors from setting. so even thou you have a open obd2 port for testing. you're going to have to run it without the dongle to get anything ready.

what cam and lifters did you go with? how does it run?

Thank You...I will look into this. The scanner that we have finally indicated that all systems were "ready" over the weekend. I took it back in yesterday to emissions and same thing happened...they indicate that the systems weren't ready to test. I am starting to get heartbroken as my Yukon is immaculate for having 100,000 miles and I absolutely love it. They won't grant me a waiver saying I've "tampered with the vehicle"

Hi, we have ran it and ran it and finally got all the systems to indicate they were "ready" I took it back to emissions yesterday and they indicated that all systems were "not ready" I haven't tried an emmission test without the dongle so I may do that next.
We sent my control module off to be retuned when we initially did the delete but the guy sent it back because it was a hybrid and said it couldn't be tuned.

We found someone local yesterday who is looking into it for me.

We put non AMF stock 6 liter lifters in it.
It's driven 100% fine in the 1.5 years since we did it.
I am gutted as I love this damn car and it is immaculate for my 100,000 miles I have on it and has a lotta life left to go.

Emissions told me since I have "tampered" with the original hybrid equipment they would never issue a waiver for it.

it's never going to be ready until you get rid of that dongle and get a proper tune, the hiccup here is it's a hybrid so someone has to work around that.
when the tune is done and it is finally really "ready" you do not have to say anything about it, just get it smogged like normal

hptuners will disable afm and all monitors will set.

I have done it on my 2011. so don't listen to anyone that says a hybrid can't be done.

worse case you buy hptuners, 2 credits. change one drop down box and then sell hpt if you don't need it. or find a local that has it and willing to do it for you.

curious thou, did you change the cam or just drop in 16 new non afm lifters on top of the old cam? did you replace the vlom with a non afm flat one? I only ask cause usually guys that try dropping in new lifter on the afm cam have a missfire and guys that do a delete kit which is cam, lifter and top plate. the truck runs like crap with just dongle turning it off.

Thank You! I set up some appointments with a few places in town so hopefully one of them will be able to get it tuned. First one is Saturday so fingers crossed that one works. I appreciate your taking time to respond. Will let you know how it goes!
