2014 Escalade, L94 6.2. 166,000 mi and never made a sound when started cold. Always use 5W30 full synthetic, always change at 5000 MI. AFM/DOD deleted last year. It's never used a drop of oil between oil changes.

Nothing after the 2009 model year should have piston slap. GM finally addressed it in the 2010 model year by redesigning the piston skirts. If I had a ticking sound on cold starts I'd be a little nervous.... Concerned about an oil pressure issue or lifter.

Do all 6.2 L engines tick on start up until it’s warm. My dealer said it was normal it has 10,000 miles. I’ve done two oil changes. I do about every 5000 miles. 2023 Yukon Denali.

Broken bolt is common on 07-08 6.2L. Newer motors, time will tell, but not so bad.

14/15 (full size SUV) went to direct injection and yes, they are NAF.

Piston skirt design is/was the 07/08 6.2L piston slap issue. It made for buying our 08 YXL Denali a smoking deal because I played the part of doubting that piston slap existed.

Our 09 gets it when it -45F @ 185k miles now. Newer 6.2L motors have the new piston design as wells as coated piston skirts to make it all but gone.

They’re 100% aluminum motors therefore they resonate internal noise. Address ticking after engine warm up or check for exh leak with piece of tissue taped on a pencil to verify movement of exhaust leaking.

I noticed this same phenomenon when I bought my new to me 18 Yukon at 26k miles. I brought it to my local dealer to have them look it over after driving it from Kansas to Philly and they said the tick is normal and that its from the high pressure fuel pump. I’ve got over 115k miles now. Never an issue.
