These low tension thin metric ring packs are great, until they aren't. With today's super detergent oils I'm really surprised to see this problem.

I believe it's more the lack of old school pvc valves sucking I tons of oil into the intake because of high air flow at idle. we never really had this problem in the older ls1s that had pvc valves. my 02 camaro I had and my buddy that had a 01 c5 never have oil issues. my 08 c6 without a valve even with the lifter valley source that should have less oil would drink a half a qt a day in hard driving before pvc mods. even the upgraded baffle in the valve cover isn't all that great. my 2011 intake was full of oil when I had it off. I let it drain till I got bored. still had some in it. that and the afm cylinder not burning it. you just get tons of build up on these pistons.

my cheap catch can catches a decent amount of oil still.

if you buy oil by the qt it's all expensive. some of the liquid moly brand is well over 15$ a qt.

by the gal or those 5qt jugs is the only way. which of course is annoying when our trucks take almost 6 qt haha.

It's the 3rd Amazon link you posted in #6 of this thread:

Oh! LOL

I've either bought it from a local ACDelco store or from Rock Auto myself. Prices kept going up so that's when I sought out an alternative and Quaker State was tested to be just as good for my purposes. If my memory wasn't so bad, I would have just listened to Pete years ago! LOL

Some guy on you tube drilled oil return holes in the pistons. Not that I'm pulling my motor, .... craigslist time for truck.
