Very productive and successful day today. After a very long time coming, she is in and started on the first crank. Boy, was I nervous. Had a sticking lifter on the driver's side. She settled out after a few minutes. No leaks or codes. Oil pressure sitting around 50 psi. After she warmed up, and I topped off fluids, I took her for a gentle drive. Immediately, I could tell a difference in both torque and pull. Looking forward to my updated tune from Black Bear Performance once I record and send then my data. Only complaint is that my shift points seem a bit off. Could be both the tune and the new converter. At least, that's what I'm hoping.

  • Installed radiator fan
  • Installed Spark Plug wires
  • Plugged in harness and connected various wire for radiator fan
  • Connected vacuum line from passenger rocker cover to throttle body (I have a catch can that I will install at a later date)
  • Connected main vacuum line
  • Installed air cleaner and connected air intake tube
  • Installed main serpentine belt
  • Installed upper radiator hose
  • Installed new oil filter
  • Added six quarts of oil
  • Poured 3 gallons 50/50 coolant into engine
  • Connected all wires to battery as required
  • Installed catch can (driver's side)
  • Topped of coolant
  • Performed a very thorough QA inspection
  • Tested battery
  • Verified no current engine codes
  • Reinstalled Blackbear Performance tune
  • Pressurized fuel system (no leaks)
  • Started engine for first time
  • Topped off coolant
  • Checked engine oil
  • Installed plastic top cover
  • Installed front grill
  • Installed plastic top cover with AEM sticker
  • Installed splash/rock guard
  • Installed wheel well covers
  • Installed and torqued front wheels
  • Took her out for a spin (wow)

After driving the girl yesterday, I topped off the fluids (coolant and transmission (after warming it up a bit)) this morning. Put just over 50 miles on it today. Really love this new engine. Really smooth and pulls very strong. No codes at this point or leaks. Must have done something right. I need to do a recording of data for Black Bear but want to put a few more miles on it before going wide open throttle for the data run. Thanks to all of you for your comments, suggestions and support during this build. Took longer than I would have liked but life gets in the way at times.

Very nice! Remember to break it in properly! Is WOT pulls something that should be done during break in? I am asking because I am breaking in myself.
