So I did the unthinkable the other day—I closed my garage door on my rear bumper. But I was pulled in JUST enough that the door closed, all while the door hinge scratched the bumper cover, trim piece and hitch cover. Why is the door sounding weird? Hmmmm….

The bumper cover could be buffed to look better. The hitch cover replaced (or wrapped). But that trim piece. It barely just scratched the coating off the trim piece. And I am having a dickens of a time finding what color the trim piece is? It kinda sticks out with this patch of chrome right in the middle of the bumper.

At one time I thought it was black chrome. But when I look at GM now, I get Black Ice, Knightrider Chrome, and other bogasity. I’ve tried looking for pictures, entering my VIN, etc. Guess we can’t have simple descriptive names anymore.

Does anyone know what the trim name is on a 2021+ Z71?

I'd do a Google search for "chrome trim options" on your year truck, and see if you find an article written specifically about the different trim options, or a Car and Driver article about the truck that mentions the trims in it. That's what I had to do to see what my trim is called on my '23 Denali (I knew it wasn't bright chrome, and I knew it wasn't "vader" chrome). But even then, when I looked up the two trim pieces I wanted to buy in the "galvano" chrome finish, gmpartsdirect.com called the passenger-side piece "silver" and the driver's-side "galvano silver," despite them both being the same finish. So, I understand that it can be maddening. lol Good luck!

I tried Google many different ways but they are worthless. Kept taking to the different “trim” levels, instead of trim colors. I scanned the articles like you said, but even then no-go.

Open to more suggestions. Thanks.

Did you try looking for trim pieces for your truck/year @ gmpartsdirect.com and seeing if you can deduce what trim you have from there?

I did. Thank you. I thought I would jist go there and order “Black Chrome”. That is when I found all the funky non-descriptive names.

:p

I appreciate the suggestions. Keep it coming!

Dealer with your vin number.
I was thinking that. I just didn’t want to ask them and then say—thanks, but I will buy it online for much cheaper. Guess I will have to. Could always give them the option to price match.

Thanks!
