When my 2018 5.3 with 6L80 hit 115k, I changed the trans fluid for the 2nd time - and the pan looked pretty clean, no metal. As a precaution I pulled the trans and replaced my torque converter with the heavy duty one from JEGS.com - the one with the billet cover. It's like $299 plus core, plus about 9 quarts of fluid...

It's obvious to me that once the torque converter starts throwing metal, it'll wipe out an otherwise good trans in no time... and I'm hoping by replacing the torque converter before it started throwing metal that I can get another hundred thousand or more miles on the trans -- but time will tell. (I also put in the low temp thermostat).

Good luck with yours!
