Are the locks the same?

Hello folks.

Question for the hive mind. Are the Door locks on the driver's door and the rear barn door the same lock cylinder or is there 2 different ones? I'm asking cause I'm picking an 04 Yukon XL soon and want to secure it better for my piece of mind by replacing all the locks at once including the ignition lock. Thanks everyone!!

its only one key for everything, seems like a waste of time and money to me, if some dirt bag wants your car they will take it no matter what. and we all know these trucks can be stolen with out the key in less then a minute. the fact the steering wheel dont lock is one huge part of making it easy.

^^^^^x2^^^^^ You may want to install a hidden switch that powers your fuel pump, so the truck won't start, until you've flipped the switch.

Just for curiosity,, how is the Passlock system overcome? Guess it could be be not started and just dragged off?

being im not a criminal i dont know how they get past the security. but if you break the window and climb in the alarm wont go off, unlocking the door sets off the alarm. you can then rip the shifter right out of park, then push it away all silent like. back int he day all the gmt 800 trucks were being stolen with surprising ease, them stock wheels must be worth something good. think the escalades. theres tons of vids of them being stolen in a minute one way or another.

I understand about the theft of the entire vehicle aspect. I'm more concerned about a random previous owner that still has a key just walking up to my vehicle and just unlock it and take whatever's inside. That's why I'm wondering about if the rear barn door and drivers door uses the same lock cylinder so I can lock into purchasing new ones as well as replacing the ignition lock cylinder.

lol, probably going to be a lot cheaper and easier to just pull them all out, including the ignition lock and just have a locksmith re-key them if it is that big of a deal.
pull the door panel, pop the clip and hangers off and there ya go, for the ignition you just pull the plastic cover off turn the key to run push the pin in and it comes right out.
if you went out and bought them all new you would have to have them re-keyed anyway............................. so makes no sense

unless you are buying from ghetto bob down the street I wouldn't even bother, your money is better spent on a good alarm system.

Mechanic friend of mine years ago said to put in something that doesn't kill the fuel pump until like 5 or 10 minutes later. This way the vehicle dies unexpectedly in the middle of the road somewhere and the theif is less inclined to hang around trying to get it to restart !!

how would the seller know where you live? unless you gave them your home addy. if your that worried, also get the key fobs cleared and reprogrammed. door locks are super easy to change. nothing more then a C clip holding them in place.

One of my other plans is to also get new fobs as well. Do you know if all the locks are the same part number between the Barn Door and Drivers Door?
