if the problem existed previous to a new battery then it's of course likely not the battery if the problem persists

It sounds even more like my problem with the rod and lock connections. Once you have the door panel off and hit the lock/unlock button it’ll be pretty obvious. Try the rear door first in case something doesn’t go back together easily.
