    Tech 2 Purchase

I find it also curious that the OBD2 connection adapter also appears to have the wrong GM part# on it, giving the number of the loopback adapter. Either that or the documentation has it wrong! What worked for me was to use a small jumper with alligator clips which allowed me to attach to the...

    Tech 2 Purchase

So this is where I got to in ringing out the DLC cable, the 19 pin Burndy to 16 pin OBD2, and then the assembled deal from Tech 2 to 16 pin OBD2. Got me all bumfuzzled a few times but I believe I got it all worked out right. And if the imagery isn't clear enough go here...

    Tech 2 Purchase

No good. Connections still flaky. I have gotten away with it for my use as I only have older vehicles like your Envoy that only use 3 pins, Power, Ground, and class 2 serial data. I have mapped out the wiring through the cable/adapter as a whole, and the wiring through the adapter alone. Have...

    Tech 2 Purchase

This what I have right now. About to retest. Getting that spring out is difficult, I 'screwed" it out with needle nosed pliers. I like it much better without the spring but it did not help the poor connections.

    Tech 2 Purchase

I have an update... I looked a little closer and discovered it is not a crimp but there are 2 wire like clips in there. With a flexible backprobe needle I am able to poke behind the clips making them tighter. It may "fix" this....

    Tech 2 Purchase

So I just tried ringing out my DLC cable to 16 Pin OBD2. Glad that I don't have any Canbus vehicles or this would have given me fits. 2 pins of the 16 on the OBD2 end have lousy connections through the 19 pin Burndy on the DLC cable. #12 & #14, #14 being absolutely needed for Canbus. Tried...

    Tech 2 Purchase

It is your phrase "first connecting" that I was trying to pin down. When you power up the Tech 2, there is no "connection" by which I mean that there has been zero communications between the Tech 2 and anything in the truck. If you select say Diagnostics, the select your year, vehicle type...

    A/C refrigerant capacity??

Lacking any better data I would go with the lower amount and then evaluate over a wide range of conditions. I would only add additjonal if there were clear and convincing evidence in favor. In general, refrigerant charge is an item where extra is NOT better than a little low.

Does it matter what operation you are attempting, ie: SPS vs Diagnostics etc.?

Mine looks like yours, absolutely no stickers or markings whatsoever. Mine has never exhibited any communiactions issues (excepting of course when my cable fried)

    Tech 2 Purchase

I would be very curious what is seen on the serial data line while this is happening. Sounds like something amiss there like loss of communications with the BCM. I often use an obd2 splitter cable with an ELM327 clone and record the data traffic for analysis.

    CMP angle PID needed

I do not believe there is a PID listing available from the Tech 2.

    Tech 2 Purchase

To be clear, your 02 Envoy has no CANbus and no need for the CANDI module so you not using that with the Envoy, right? After my experience with a shorted Tech2 cable I would suggest a good dose of caution here. I was lucky it did no vehicular damage when mine fused some of the Tech2 data cable.

    confusing tpms issue

My 2005 sensors have occasionally been seen absent by the system,,, but they have always come back in short order. I recently was unable to to get the position relearn to successfully complete though. Luckily I had access to the sensor ID numbers and was able to use one of my ELM327s and a...

    "Solved" Hot wire

Fairly often there is a large 12 volt auxiliary wire running to a 7 pin trailering connector. Have you looked into this possiblity?

Strange issue with courtesy lights on 2005 Yukon XL

I have an 05 Yukon, not XL but should be the same for this issue. I'll have a look at mine and see what I can learn.

    Cranks but no start...continued *SOLVED*

I might be way off but does this vehicle have that 'spider' fuel injection? That system needs I think it was like 60 psi fuel pressure to operate. A year or two ago a friend had this issue, the new fuel pump, a Delphi would not develop the needed minimum pressure. I returned it to Napa and got...

Thinking of buying a 2005 tahoe

So I have a 2005 Yukon with 5.3 LM7 engine and one thing I surely wish I had known at the time of purchase was the well known possibility of having the heads crack!

Empty the tank with fuel pump

Locate fuel pump relay in fuseblock. Remove relay and place a jumper between terminals 30 & 87. Do not stick anything down in the relay socket that is thicker than the relay pins or you may damage the fuseblock.

    Tech 2 Purchase

Thought this to be worth a mention... Be cautious with the cables on these. I can't say this is any different from clone to clone to genuine but mine did not appreciate repetitive flexing/twisting and shorted internally.... Though they are available for purchase separately I elected to fix...

    Removing ECM safely

With regards to getting this information you don't necessarily need to spend more than about $20. A Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and an android app can read this. It is a standard service $09 request to the ECM. (This device will NOT do the Crank angle sensor error relearn) I use a VeePeak Mini...
