@Mudsport96 I'm not sure what you mean? Are you saying that because the drivers side shaft is splined into the differential and passenger side is disconnected by the actuator?
I had a post here a while back (like fall of 2022) about some trouble I was having doing some reassembly on my front axle after changing a shaft seal and needle bearing that mates to the drivers side CV shaft. Through some issues I ended up having to pretty much disassemble the entire thing...
Between yesterday and Friday did the u-joints on the rear driveshaft, rust proofed the frame with Fluid Film and fixed the exterior door handle for the drivers door.
@OR VietVet yea I'll have it back together tomorrow and will see how it feels. But yea very true. I'm just surprised it didn't vibrate at lower speeds.
So pulled the rear driveshaft down. The u-joint at the rear axle was actually bound up pretty good. It moved like it had detents inside the bearing caps. So this very well may have been the source of the vibration. Not sure what to think about the front axle though.
Finally have the chance to better check this out after a few weeks. I do have new u-joints to swap in, but I'm not so sure that's actually the issue. The current ones all feel tight. The play though I had noted at the drivers side output of the front axle where the CV shaft attaches seems to...
So the door handle does indeed need to be replaced? Mine are color matched so I'll to figure out where to find one.
@OR VietVet I seem to remember something about silicone spray used on the weather stripping to keep it from sticking to the door. I never worried about it though because I...
I went to leave for work this morning and my drivers door was a bit froze shut (was 9F here). I had to tug the handle a couple times but then something inside the door broke so now the handle is not functional. The inside handle still works though.
I was messing around with it after I got...
I'm thinking even changing the one at the rear axle too. Then find all new ones that have a grease fitting on the bearing cap so they can actually be greased without pulling the driveshafts down.
@rockola1971 from what I can tell U-joints may be original expect for the one at the rear axle (this one is greasable). I can't grease it though without pulling the driveshaft down because the fitting is on the center of the U-joint and my grease gun tip can't reach it. So that may not have...
Was checking this out the other night to see how the engine mounts were. From what I was able to find with bad mounts the engine should want to lift on the drivers side while giving throttle with the brake held and transmission in gear. I don't seem to have that going on. I do wonder though...
@OR VietVet can check them out. With the age and miles on the vehicle it's definitely possible they can be bad.
What's a good source for them if they need to be changed?
I've got a vibration when driving that I haven't been able to figure out yet. It doesn't occur until I reach 65 mph. My first thought is u-joints but they've been tight whenever I check them. But from looking at them I can't tell if they've been changed recently. I do have some radial play...
Was noticing a coolant leak over the last couple weeks and wasn't sure where it was coming from. This last week I ended up dumping a bunch of coolant in the parking lot at work. I took Thursday and Friday off to try and enjoy our nice weather that we've been having (and fix the coolant...
I think we can finally put this to bed. I changed the crankshaft sensor last weekend and drove around all the last week without any stalls or crank but no starts. Now to get battery cables changed.
Well I guess things weren't actually fixed. Was out and about last night and the engine died on my drive home 2 times putting me on the side of the road. It did register a P0335 code for the crankshaft sensor though so I got that swapped out this afternoon.
I did learn something else though...
Well I've put somewhere around 130 miles on since Saturday between trips into town and driving back and forth to work. No issues with not starting after sitting in a parking lot a little while after the engine got warm. Tonight though the engine did cut out 2 times within a matter of seconds...
Crisis averted. I ended up missing a ring terminal for one of the grounds hooking things back up after cleaning.
Back the issue at hand. We'll see now if cleaning the other grounds helps to clear up the stalling issue. Otherwise I do have an AC Delco crankshaft sensor on order that should...
Alright I think I figured this out. Looking at the schematic some of the parts I was having trouble trouble with were associated with the G110 ground. According the service info I have (its for an 06 though) that ground is supposed to be on the frame by the front shock mount. I don't have a...
Last night I decided to take on cleaning up the grounds. I got the one on the engine block done and today it seemed that may have taken care of the crank but no start condition. The engine will still intermittently die but seemed to start right away just fine. Today now I cleaned up the frame...
Was cleaning up frame grounds in effort to troubleshoot another issue but now seems like I have a whole new issue.
When I start the engine I have the following symptoms now:
-ABS and parking brake indicators turn on when driving in reverse but turn off when driving forward
-pass lock light...
