Hey, wondering if anyone knows or has done that in past.
Looking to level my 2008 Yukon XL Denali with Z55.
Was wondering how much lift i need for the front to level it with airbags taking ass up.
Is it 1.5 or 2 or none of these and truck would have its front up and ass down if lifted to air...
That looks amazing!
I have few tiny spots i plan to do as well that some body shop tried to quickly hack together and they don’t look good.
Do you have a comprehensive list of what you used so far by chance?
I.E what spray paint, sanding papers, what clear coat etc
Is the us border far out?
I’m in Southern Ontario and i either order parts in bulk from Rockauto or hop over the order and buy there.
Canadian mechanic fees and parts are scam.
Went through every local parts shop recently thinking I’ll support them with my money for once, looking for o2...
Woah thats cheaper than i thought! Totally worth just swapping it than trying to get the gasket out
Going to get list of parts ready, order everything and then choose a weekend to take the top off and give her some long needed spa.
Thank you folks!
Will keep you posted on the progress :)
Lots...
Do you have parts number still by chance?
Looking at Rockauto, it's hard to find VLOM or VLOM Gaskets for 2008 6.2 ( non-dod ), it lists different looking parts, mostly complete VLOM plates it seems
I guess intake manifold gaskets would be another good idea while i'm down there?
Looks like these engines just go in the heat and love to leave marks everywhere they go so other "male" LSes can find them easily.
Did you have to do anything else besides cleaning it up and tightening the bolts?
I LOVE this forum, thanks again!
Was taking off headlight to remove moisture and reseal and what do you know, decided to "touch" the 2 bolts that are reachable on the VLOM plate ( non-DOD engine ), the both bolts are loosy, did some tighty for now but will be taking off the top to clean it up...
That's actually very good advice, thank you!
Valve covers might have never been off, it won't hurt taking them off, cleaning everything, replacing the gaskets and maybe even coils?
And check for any possible rocker slack
Will add to my todo list and get it done sometime next week mornings...
You give me hopes :joy:
I was thinking if gasket i replaced doesn't stop oil leak i might have to go hunt for oil pan gasket resealing or main seal ( although main seal seems dry under the cover ).
After reading your posts i think i'll stop hunting these once a week oil drips lol, based on...
Was looking at cheapos from HF to get some learning going on, newer welded in my life before.
Are they any "good"?
( Somehow during my learning process in last few years, every time i end up taking "this should be easy" job with "50$ worth of parts" i end up with 200-400$ worth of new tools. So...
Nooo, i was so tired and excited - i grabbed new bolts, cleaned up surface and threw some red sealant on the cut.
Put everything together, left 100 tools on floor, around 200 used gloves and went for a coffee.
Basically right here, this was the only "angle" you could get in there even with flex...
Got the oil block off broken bolt out with @89Suburban technique, thank you! :)
Tried drilling with angle drill attachment but it's almost impossible to get in there at right angle due to tight squeeze and the only bit that fits was from ez-out and it couldn't drill the bolt at all.
Couldn't...
I’m afraid it will cut into the sealing surface as it’s too close, although if that happens i could probably grind it down a little, the whole surface/thing has no meaning but to block off the oil with no cooler liner, too bad gm didnt just weld it together!
Edit: Here’s the gasket, wonder if i...
Welp, got the driveshaft detached and moved slightly out of the way for extra room.
The bolt inside the oil block off is busted inside, nothing sticking out.
The bolts are M6.
Guess it's time to order angle drill and extractor set small enough to try and break the M6 bolt out.
Otherwise i'll...
Highly doubt it, it broke at 1ft of force, i have a feeling someone put a ****** gasket and ****** bolts.
Hopefully i can get it out myself easy enough without having to drop tranny to then drop oil pan lol…
Definitely isnt! I was screwing it back in haha.
We will see tomorrow, I’ll play overnight to beer gods it sticks out, otherwise dropping driveshaft and getting the angle drill plus extraction set
This morning i cleaned error codes and truck ran smooth without any symptoms anymore.
Checked under sill, no water or broken wires.
Noticed i have dangling open plug for running boards that are no longer there, cleaned it up and hid it away.
Checked all other connections that could get water...
“What did you break today on your gmt900 while trying to fix something else?”
Well, i managed to break the bolt on oil cooler block off in a hard to reach area!
Was going to do a bunch of things this morning, transfer case fluid, both diffs and oil cooler block off gasket that’s leaking...
While researching all these issues with TPS and similar bugs i found out some folks saying water gets into sill under the door where the harness for body to tp is and the moisture makes it go nuts.
Could be why it happened after the car wash.
Taking the sill off tomorrow, drying out and...
Was driving home and decided to have a visit at touchless car wash that also pressure sprays bottom of the car.
About a mile or two after car wash i get Stabilitrak err, Traction Control err and engine light blinking.
Also limps, we get on highway and while cruising at same speed, lights go off...
So i started wondering, i fixed the rear suspension for autoride and it’s pumping air and working nicely.
Now I’m wondering, how do you check if autodamping in front is actually working and isn’t stuck in some hard suspension mode?
Couldn’t find any videos
Is there any way to test it...
Finally fixed that exhaust leak on driver side rear with dorman clamp that took soooo much pain to install.
I couldn’t get manifold removed from pipe so had to resort to clamp.
And i think the brought back some horses on that 6.2.
We were accelerating on highway and at around speed of 40 i...
