    3 transmission codes on startup

This is most certainly an electrical, electronic / communication problem in the CAN-BUS system and/or one or more modules as opposed to a transmission-specific issue...I'd check fuses, wiring, grounds, etc...Admittedly, once the scope of the problem goes outside of the transmission itself, I'm a...

09 Yukon 6L80 TC shudder every 20k miles

You're welcome...I'd also want to know if they vac tested the pump and valve body, installed a hydraulic correction kit like the Transgo Repro or Sonnax Zip kit as either are good to go for restoring like 95% of those valve bodies / pump cover valve trains to serviceability. My guess is they're...

09 Yukon 6L80 TC shudder every 20k miles

Find out what or who's torque converters your builder is using and perhaps recommend they make a change if buying from one large TC reman company or another... If the TC is a factory-level replacement, that by itself would explain what's happening and why as the JMBX converters are notorious...

    TRANSMISSION SWAP

Yes, he will need the 2004+ paper/rubber (aka overhaul) kit. However, if the 2004+ paper/rubber kit is more than $20 greater in price than the 93-2000 kit, I'll buy the earlier kit then purchase the wedge seal and orange or white striped VB gasket set separately for a few bucks. I then store the...

    TRANSMISSION SWAP

If he's swapping the entire assembled 2000 transmission for the 2007 fully assembled transmission, it shouldnt matter. If he was refreshing or rebuilding the 2007 for use in the 2000 vehicle then he'd need the wedge seal vs pump o-ring and 2007+ vb-plate/case orange stripe gasket set vs the...

    TRANSMISSION SWAP

If you want to install the 2007 into your 2000 w/the 5.3, it will work, assuming the unit is functional. The 2007 likely has the turbine speed sensor but your 2000 Tahoe's PCM wont be looking for it so no big deal.

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

Thanks, Jerry! Appreciate the feedback... I'd have it serviced, whether you do a full flush, pan drop w/filter and fluid change or both is up to you but never changing the fluid is what primarily leads to premature failures in these transmissions (followed by the poorly designed JMBX torque...

If the parking pawl housing isnt leaking, no need to change it. You should be able to get the selector shaft retrntion roll pin out with diag cutters...Apart from that, any collet style puller-slide hammer set should work (prob better than the tool itself which isnt nearly as heavy as it needs...

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

Id never do that for the simple fact thet if someone decided to keep it, Id be out. Way too much hassle for no substantive benefit. Besides, you're looking at the tooling costs as though they were operating expenses when they are actually capital expenses. Capital expenditures are incurred...

    Lost converter lockup

That TEHCM has quite a lot of miles on it, lol...You can continuity test it via a DVOM then used a fused 12v power supply to energize the TCC solenoid to see if it's responding but that's only going to confirm that it's electrically functional...The status of its mechanical function will still...

    Lost converter lockup

You're welcome. PIDs to watch on the scanner are transmission shift speeds (should be less than a second), TCC slip speed (RPM) at higher duty cycles - slip speeds should be less than 10 RPM when the TCC is enabled (gears 2-6). Also look at the MAF, TPS and other engine sensor/switch data...

    I'd install a 2WD transmission.

    2wd to 4wd transmission

Do you have a 2WD or 4WD truck? If you have a 2WD, what are you mentioning transfer case as your truck wouldn't have a transfer case? Your pictures above appear to show a 2WD application.

    Lost converter lockup

There's no such thing as a 'safe' assumption...I can tell you what I'd do if you brought the unit to me with the above backstory: Prereq - scan the vehicle for DTCs stored; if trans was still in the vehicle, drive it with the scanner plugged in to view live engine and transmission data to see...

    2wd to 4wd transmission

Ouch! While I'm no fan of AAMCO overall, they are likely correct here as nothing inside the transmission (unless a literal explosion occurred for some reason) would cause the damage shown in the pics. Definitely have your pinion angles checked, look over the suspension carefully for...

    6L80E Trans Trouble

My lack of alerts is deliberate - I turned them off...Otherwise I'd receive numerous alerts whenever someone responded to threads and most of the time, the response wouldn't pertain to me or ask for my input (though some do)...Which is why I have them set to only alert me when someone mentions...

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

I'd recommend looking in your area for a reputable torque converter rebuilder...I'm fortunate to have one here in Vegas and he does all my torque converters, regardless of application, stall, configuration, etc...Many of the big converter builders will order the same parts from Sonnax to build...

    6L80E Trans Trouble

Look up Hiram Gutierrez; his channel on YT is Automatic Transmissions and he's based in Houston. Im fairly certain he does GM 6Ls. See if you can find him on Yelp or Facebook/Facebook Marketplace.

    6L80E Trans Trouble

The GM unit would be serviceable at any GM dealership in the event you needed to make a warranty claim. The Circle D trans would be the most "built" of the bunch while Jasper and Streetsmart would be somewhere in between.

    6L80 P0700/P0711 2019 Suburban 5.3

TECHM = TCM: they are not two separate modules... Yes, you'll need to order a new TEHCM (transmission electronic hydraulic control module) to resolve P0711. You can call a GM dealership, ask for parts then give the last 8 digits of your VIN so they can order a direct replacement. They should be...

Swap in used engine and transmission from wreck help!

As others have mentioned, simply have the existing transmission rebuilt. Makes no sense to spend what will amount to 2.5-3k or so on the trans portion of the swap only to have to spend another 5-7k again to rebuild it when it takes a dump on you (which it's guaranteed to do).

    Class action

Most of the problem is actually the torque converter; one-way stators and converter clutches failing based on what Ive read of the reported symptoms.

    8L90 1,2 Shift Issue

Look up the scanner's specs/features on the Innova website and/or watch some YT vids. It's a fairly popular scan tool and Innovas are sold at every Autozone so I'd imagine you can get the info you need...
