Cold Air Intake for the most power??

22844822 A stock Gen III (5.3 or 6.0) or Gen IV (5.3) LS doesn't see any real gains from an aftermarket intake system. 6.2s do benefit from one. The Volant or Corsa system was tested by BlackBear among others and came out on top. Volant used to offer a scoop for theirs for the SUVs but now...

    2017 Escalade/Denali L86 "requires" 93 octane - your experience?

What was wrong with a Caddy Cavalier? Love my 6.2s, they put a smile on my face every time we get behind the wheel!

    2017 Escalade/Denali L86 "requires" 93 octane - your experience?

The trucks do not calculate the grade of fuel and run an appropriate table. The computer advances the timing until it detects knock or pre-ignition and then it pulls timing. Rinse and repeat accelerating from every traffic light, on-ramp and passing a car on the highway, etc.. Our trucks are...

Can you off road in a Yukon SLE without 4WD??

When we go off-road, we like to see how far we can go sometimes before having to engage the front axle. They are pretty capable on good dirt and even better with AT tires. Have seen the 4x4 Tahoe/Yukons/Avalanches go everywhere the Wranglers have gone.

2008 GMC Yukon Denali - Stay away?

Remember that your Tahoe has some creature comforts and tech that the older trucks in this generation don't. Then again, the 2012-2014 are the ultimate in tech with cruise control and towing improvements. Not a big deal to most of us but just making you aware. The earlier ones also have...

    Towing

There is still too much weight behind the trailer's axles compared with up front, even with the WDH. It can only cover up for so much. Take the rig to your local CAT scale and weigh the trailer on two scales and then hooked up as if on a trip. Download the CAT Scale APP, so you don't have...

Axle ratio to tire size input needed

Ok, so you have regular ACDelco shocks out back unless someone installed Nivomats. 2007 was the last year that ZW7 was paired with G65 which was the Nivomats back then. When such trucks were new, there was a noticeable rake to them as they were designed to run comfortably with a load on and...

Glad you're ok, now go out and get another! This is why I drive these things.

Yukon, SLT vs Denali ride quality?

Generally speaking the higher trim level suspension does indeed deliver a better ride even with taller wheels. On the flip side, the system is more costly to maintain/repair over the long haul but I do not know the specifics on your generation compared to the 2007-2014 of which I am more...

There was a fella on here a few years ago that used Amazon parts to make his Tahoe faster. Look up the posts by @badandyturbo. He's not on here anymore, sold the truck and is playing with twin turbo Fords now. I and others on this here forum have personally witnessed the performance gains...

    Elecrical problem 2003 6.0 Yukon

These problems ought to have triggered internal BCM codes that can be pulled with an IPhone or bi-directional scan tool. It does seem like a cluster issue but I would make sure the battery's state of charge is above 64% after resting for 24 hours. There's a guy with a youtube channel...

Axle ratio to tire size input needed

I thought you had a 2013? Did someone add the Nivomats? They were only used on the 2007s with the GMT900 body style. You can do it with the right tools. Measuring and setting the pinion depth correctly is crucial, as is getting the rotating torque of the pinion right. I'm doing this right...

    What to buy for reliability

There is a new, lower temperature thermostat for the transmission or you can "flip the pill". Do not remove the thermostat and leave that compartment empty, doing that disrupts the flow to the cooler(s).

    Motor Oil Brand vs Consumption?

We should be coming up on the end of the 3rd oil change on Quaker State Full Synthetic soon and will send off a sample to BlackStone Labs for comparison.

There's your problem. Replace the offending cat(s). Your symptoms describe a plugged cat.

Problems with worn valves. Need good advice

Might be because of the LPG. It's been a long time since I read up on them but do remember something about using different valve seals.

    14b 9.5" into K2XX

GM made the 14-bolt semi-floaters with 6 lug axles in the GMT900s.

    14b 9.5" into K2XX

Right, you have a Salisbury 12-bolt which is supposedly stronger than the older 14-bolt. I do not know if they will drop right in. If I had your truck, I would drop in the Salisbury 12-bolt 9.76" gear, the one used behind the 6.2s. I think you already have 1415 u-joints too.

Axle ratio to tire size input needed

So what do you want to see, rpms at speed with a given tire and gear ratio? The 2500 Suburbans and Yukon XLs have 3.73s gears with the 6L90, for the purpose of this discussion it's the same thing, gearing is the same in the two transmissions. The NHT equipped GMT900 pickups with 6-speeds have...

    What to buy for reliability

In this generation of vehicle, when GM redesigned the cooling system for the transmission they installed a thermostat on the side of the transmission to keep the temps up. Well, this limits their life to about 100K miles. All that heat causes the torque converter clutch lining material to fail...

    Squeaking noise driving me crazy

Don't hear anything either. Hook up your phone or a go-pro under the truck and take a quick drive to capture the sound closer to the source without the wind noise.

Now at FIVE AC system failures in four weeks...

On the Yukon 900s we have to pull the bumper cover to get at the condenser. It only adds a few hours labor to the job when doing it at a shop.

Are all the gasoline engine issues just on the 6.2?

More horsepower and torque from the same design and architecture. The 5.3s last longer because they put out less power. Take a marine diesel engine for an example. At 1800 rpm for a 100% duty cycle it may last 12,000 hours but at 2400 rpms for a 100% duty cycle it might last 8000 hours. I'm...

2022 Yukon SLE 4X4 Tire Selection

You can go to LT265/70/18 and gain an inch in height. Go to a LT275-70-18 and you'll gain a little width and be just over 33 inches tall. Should work without rubbing with stock wheels as we've seen T1 wagons with factory 275-60-20s.
