I went through the tone ring thing on my 08 Silverado. Short story, it has a narrowed read end and the axles were built for a non-ABS application so the tone rings didn’t spin with the axle. I ended up pulling and installing the tome rings twice and I ended up buying the tool. I have loaned it...
Awesome that you got it running. As far as lifter tick, I would double check all the exhaust manifold bolts. They have a high failure rate and after a couple of the heads have broken off the manifolds develop small exhaust leaks that sound almost identical to lifters ticking. I have had this...
This idea started when I replaced my coolant overflow tank because the old one was ugly and so dirty thst I couldn’t see the level unless I took off the cap and looked inside. After that someone said something about the MC reservoir looking the same. Same thing, I couldn’t see the level and it...
I swapped out my brake MC reservoir today. It wasn’t too bad, didn’t have to bleed my brakes. Before and after. I did a detailed write up in my build thread if anyone wants to see. Link here https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/rocket-mans-02-denali-build-thread-aka-the-beast.83457/page-416
And here are the results. Much cleaner looking and I removed a bunch of crud from the bottom of the old reservoir. I can actually see the fluid level now too.
Then I just wiggled and pulled on reservoir until it popped off. I spilled a bit of fluid under there but it wasn’t bad, I’ll just spray it off with some degreaser. I popped the new one on and it felt good, like the o-rings were sealing. I also checked the old reservoir with the new MC and the...
Next I used a hand pump to drain most of the brake fluid and then removed the electrical connector. On my truck the brake booster vacuum line and my catch can were both in the way so I removed them and let them hang. Then first I used the large end of the punch until it bottomed out, then the...
I swapped out the brake MC reservoir today. It was fairly easy tbh. I don’t believe I got any air in the lines, I think as long as you don’t move the brake pedal when the reservoir is off you’re ok. There is always a little fluid in the bottom of the bores, a little lake on top of the holes.
I...
As far as the Tech2, the Chinese clones are what most of us are using. The company that makes them is the same company that used to make them for GM from what I understand. The link above is where I bought mine. It does take some time to get it. I heard of others finding US sellers but last I...
I just checked the Tech2 owners map and OR VietVet apparently doesn’t own a Tech2. I’m the only one in Oregon that I see. There’s a PDF that’s kept updated, click on it to see the list.

OR Viet Vet was in Eugene, I don’t know if he’s still there. Send him a PM. Sorry but the only way I let any of my tools out of my sight is if I get a cash deposit equal to the value of the tool, I used to loan tools and learned my lesson. You can buy one on EBay but it will take awhile to get...
Unfortunately Eugene is about a 2 hour drive each way from Portland where I live. If you want to make the drive I’d be glad to see if I can help with my Tech2.
I would go to one of the online GM parts stores where you can enter your VIN like GM Parts Giant so you’re sure to get the part specified for the options your truck has.
I’m curious to see what you find out. The suspension settling is the only thing that makes sense to me. Maybe take a tape measure right after you turn it off and measure to the top of a wheel well and watch to see if the truck is going slowly down.
That’s what I would do. If the tech2’s wouldn’t program them then it’s probably because they’re aftermarket. The tech2’s don’t like aftermarket stuff and in fact can “hang” when trying to program them and brick themselves or other modules in your truck. Even an aftermarket stereo can cause a...
I just wanted to apologize to any of you that caught wind of my rampage the other day in this thread. I’m having some personal issues in my life right now that I have very little control over and I took it out on a forum member. I was acting petty. I’ve sent an apology to that member and wanted...
