2021 PPV Front Brakes on 2013 Escalade ESV, and rear brake overhaul

WARNING!!! This is NOT a straight bolt-on upgrade. Hand grinding is required on the spindle mounting ears and wheel spacers with longer lug studs will be REQUIRED! (At least they were for my stock 2013 Escalade ESV.) Good Evening, Gentlemen! As the title states, I am installing 6-piston...

2013 Escalade ESV Next BIG adventure: Cooling system refresh, Big 3 Electrical upgrade, Reseal intake, and VLOM mod...

Nice little kick in the teeth... Thursday morning, I leave the building at work, hit remote start. To my ear, it seemed like the engine cranked longer than normal, but it started. I got in the Escalade to find the Traction Control indicator illuminated on the instrument cluster. With DIC...

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I am going to do the front brake upgrade now, because it makes me happy. And will start putting together the front suspension parts over time. This will let me review my parts choices as well. Make sure my dollar is best spent on the best part. I have not...

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

I stewed on this for a couple of days. And decided I am not going to take the plunge right now. Right now, the front end on my Escalade is tight. I am going to purchase all the rebuild parts over the next several months. And address it likely in the fall. For now, I pulled the trigger and spent...

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

Alright...I am stepping back to think for a moment. I am suffering sticker shock. I am looking at $3000 in parts, including shipping. Not sure I am ready for that big a bite right now. Will be back after I have thought about this, and had a good hard look at exactly what my Escalade needs...

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

Thanks! Unfortunately, that did not show the nuts themselves. I will keep digging. Thanks! The GM control arms I am looking at use the OEM ball joints with the threaded stud. The nut is a torque to yield type of nut, at least according to the service manual. No provision for a cotter pin and...

Thanks for the confirmation. Do you remember if the upper and lower ball joints used the same nuts? I can find listings for the lower ball joint nuts, but nothing for the upper. Thanks!

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

Sorry I have been late to respond to this post, gentlemen. Work has been ugly, and I had to replace a leaking water heater in the house on my last day off.

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

Looking at photos on GMPartsGiant, and other places on the web, the 20869201 driver side and 20869202 passenger side lower control arm assemblies do not come with the new locking nuts. They do come with ball joints and bushings.

I built new strut assemblies from GM parts and installed them back in March of 2023. The driver's side shock was leaking.

My turn at front end rebuild...2013 Escalade ESV AWD

Hello All, As I can never leave well enough alone, I am planning the next project for my 2013 Escalade ESV AWD. She has 153,6** on the clock. As of now, all seems good in the front end. However, sooner or later, it will not be. I plan to preemptively rebuild the front end between now and...

2013 Escalade ESV Next BIG adventure: Cooling system refresh, Big 3 Electrical upgrade, Reseal intake, and VLOM mod...

That is the ‘crank-cam variation’ procedure. Service manual requires this procedure be done when either is replaced. I did the procedure after the initial test drive, because I forgot. I didn’t do it initially because you have to accelerate to WOT, with the Tech 2 cutting fuel just past...

Yep. That is what makes forums worth it to me. Also, I am pretty sure it was your thread(s) that gave me the info I needed to go the GM 220A alternator route. Thanks! Thank you for the kind words! Don't worry, this is not the last you have seen of my Escalade...

2013 Escalade ESV Next BIG adventure: Cooling system refresh, Big 3 Electrical upgrade, Reseal intake, and VLOM mod...

True enough. This was a good repair and a good thread. I am referring more to my penchant for making a plan/goal for something, and then going beyond it. This is just how I do things. I spend stupid money on my hobby. Not because it makes sense, but because it makes me happy. I have spent...

At this point, she was ready for a test drive. No, she was not. While the engine was running from the first start-up, I noticed the ABS and Traction Control system indicators illuminated on the instrument cluster. Hmmm... After I shut the engine down to cool off, I went into the EBCM via the...

I had already reinstalled the air box, new air filter, cover, and MAF sensor into the front passenger's side corner of the engine bay. Installed the factory air intake duct between the air box and throttle body next. I installed a new PCV fresh air line from the upper silencing duct to the front...

With the new alternator installed, I was finally able to fabricate the cable from the battery (+) terminal to the B+ post on the alternator. Same as the other cables: 1/0ga, 5/16" hole terminals, adhesive lined heat shrink tubing. I did put a little No-Ox inside the terminals before crimping...

All the prep work done, I slammed the intake into place! Not really. To me, it was harder to install the intake manifold than it had been to remove it. Seemed to hang up on the harness more and required a little more wiggling. Regardless, I got it in. Took a little wiggling to start all 10...
