    So, YOU are the issue ... You should pop the axle cover off and examine, then you'll know for sure if you need a whole new rear end or not. If you get a whole new rear end, or a whole used rear end, you may want to invest in 4.10 or even 4.30 axle gears, since you mentioned 35s.

    No externally physical difference between a 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 6.6L, or 7.0L. All the same size on the OUTside, all cast identical shadows. You'll get more bang for your buck from slapping a supercharger onto a 6.0L or 6.2L; both of those are easy enough to find.

You will find different brands of 5W30 will be consumed at different rates. I check my oil every weekend. Once the engine consumes 1/2 a quart, it's time to change oil...
